Introduction: The venous outflow profile (VOP) is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect affecting stroke outcomes. It plays a major role in the physiopathology of acute cerebral ischemia, as it accounts for both the upstream arterial collaterals and cerebral microperfusion. This enables it to circumvent the limitations of various arterial collateral evaluation systems, which often fail to consider impaired autoregulation and its impact on cerebral blood flow at the microcirculatory levels.

Aggressive Course of Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-Associated Disease (MOGAD): An Illustration of Two Cases and Review of Literature.

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is a central nervous system demyelinating disease that has become a major source of morbidity among children and adults. In the first case, we present an 18-year-old Hispanic female with a recently resolved upper respiratory infection who presented with fever, headache, progressive quadriparesis, urinary retention, and encephalopathy. The hospital course involved autonomic dysfunction and prolonged intubation requiring tracheostomy and gastrostomy.

Multiple Listeria Abscesses in an Immunocompetent Patient.

Listeria monocytogenes is a ubiquitous organism that can potentially cause gastroenteritis and, less commonly, central nervous system infections. Brain abscess is rare and often associated with immunocompromised status. We report a case of multiple abscesses caused by Listeria in a previously immunocompetent elderly patient who developed a headache and left-sided hemiparesis over the course of days.

Sundown syndrome and symptoms of anxiety and depression in hospitalized elderly.
