Treatment of Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura with Homeopathic Dilutions of Patient Blood.

Background: Conventional or homeopathic treatment of chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is often difficult. The use of homeopathic dilutions of patient blood (HPB) for immunomodulation has been described, which inspired us to try the method in an ITP case.

Case Report: A 2-year-old girl with chronic ITP was treated with homeopathic dilutions of her own capillary blood, given orally over 5 months.

Homeopathic treatment of multimorbid patients: a prospective outcome study with polarity analysis.

Background: The treatment of multimorbid patients who have a combination of three or more concurrent complaints is one of the core competencies of homeopathy. In this article we introduce the application of polarity analysis (PA) in multimorbidity. PA came to prominence through the Swiss homeopathic ADHD double-blind study, which successfully demonstrated a significant difference between highly dilute homeopathic remedies and placebo.

Frequently occurring polar symptoms assessed by successful cases.

Background: Frequently occurring symptoms with opposite poles like 'Cold ameliorates/aggravates' are regarded valuable for homeopathic practice, but are insufficiently assessed and impossible to handle with conventional repertorisation.

Method: In a pilot study 30 questions out of a standard questionnaire in 102 cases responding well to five medicines were analysed and compared with a control group of 100 consecutive new cases. Outcomes of a pivot table, Likelihood Ratio (LR) calculations and Multivariate Analysis (MVA) were compared.

Introduction: The Swiss randomised controlled trial of homeopathy for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) was a rigorous test of homeopathy. In each of its three phases it delivered evidence for a specific effect of homeopathic treatment, but it also unmasked weaknesses of the method. Misleading reports of sensations and mind symptoms by parents were frequent, while modalities and polar symptoms usually proved to be reliable information for repertorisation.

Homeopathic treatment of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: a randomised, double blind, placebo controlled crossover trial.

Unlabelled: An increasing number of parents turn to homeopathy for treatment of their hyperactive child. Two publications, a randomised, partially blinded trial and a clinical observation study, conclude that homeopathy has positive effects in patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The aim of this study was to obtain scientific evidence of the effectiveness of homeopathy in ADHD.
