Background: The new patient cataract and lens ophthalmic questionnaire (CLOQ) determines subjective patient satisfaction before and after cataract surgery according to item response theory (IRT).
Methods: A total of 317 patients with bilateral cataract surgery and implantation of different intraocular lens (IOL) types were included. The questionnaire (37 questions) is divided into questions on visual acuity-relevant quality of life (VRQoL), quality of vision (QoV), spectacle dependence, and general satisfaction.
An archetype signal dependent noise (SDN) model is a component used in analyzing images or signals acquired from different technologies. This model-component may share properties with stationary normal white noise (WN). Measurements from WN images were used as standards for making comparisons with SDN in both the image domain (ID) and Fourier domain (FD).

Background And Objectives: The characteristics of persistent long-term symptoms and their contribution to subjective quality of life remain unclear in patients with NMDAR encephalitis. In this study, we aimed to evaluate postacute neuropsychiatric symptoms, subjective cognitive complaints, and disease coping mechanisms and identify predictors of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis.
Methods: This cross-sectional observational study investigated patients with NMDAR encephalitis in the postacute phase.
Background: Endometriosis is a chronic, estrogen-dependent, benign condition, affecting 10-15% of women of reproductive age. It is associated with a prevalence of sexual dysfunction that is nearly twice as high as that seen in women with other benign gynecological conditions. Our study aimed to assess the effect of surgical intervention on sexual function, as measured by the FSFI (Female Sexual Function Index) score, in women with endometriosis compared to those with other benign gynecological conditions, both before and after surgery.

We also examined how C-peptide and BC risk vary across quartiles of mammographic features. Linear and logistic regressions were used to study the associations between C-peptide and MD parameters, and breast cancer.

Introduction: Neuropsychiatric symptoms in particular impair health-related quality of life (QoL) of patients with Parkinson's disease and atypical Parkinsonian syndromes. For this reason, various scales have been developed for detection of neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as the Scale for evaluation of neuropsychiatric disorders in Parkinson's disease (SEND-PD).
Objective: First, the objective of this study was to explore the interrelation between the SEND-PD and clinical parameters in patients with Parkinson's disease and thus confirm its validity.
This study investigated the long-term effects of the surgical removal of endometriotic lesions on quality of life in endometriosis patients. A sub-analysis explored different subtypes of endometriosis, hormonal influence, and the need for reoperation. The study was conducted at the Certified Endometriosis Center of the Medical University of Vienna.

Despite good functional neurological recovery, most patients continue to experience cognitive, psychiatric, psychological, and social impairments years after the acute phase. However, the precise nature and evolving patterns over time of these long-term consequences remain unclear, and their implications for the well-being and quality of life of predominantly young patients have yet to be thoroughly examined.

Women with MFPP often experience severely reduced quality of life due to impaired sexual health. Here, we examined the relationship between MFPP and sexual function.

The aim of the study was to develop a short multidimensional screening tool for the detection of burden in family caregivers in palliative care.
Methods: Family caregivers of cancer patients newly admitted to specialist inpatient palliative care (N = 232) completed questionnaires on psychological burden, quality of life, social support and need fulfillment.
Fiber-optical networks are well established to accommodate global data traffic via coherent information transmission. The next generation of telecommunications will require the integration of quantum information into fiber-optic networks, e.g.

Methods: Using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging, we investigated brain perfusion and oxygen level estimates in 47 patients (44.
Two literature-known sulfido vanadates, Na[VS] and K[VS], were obtained through a straightforward and scalable synthetic method. Highly crystalline powders of both compounds were obtained from the homogeneous molten phases of starting materials via a─comparably rapid─solid-state technique. Low-temperature structure determination, ambient temperature powder diffraction, and solid-state NMR spectroscopy verify previous structural reports and indicate purity of the obtained samples.

Ammonium ions are a key component of many organic-inorganic metal halide materials. We show that the hexagonal perovskite (MeNH)PbI is rapidly transformed to iminium-based perovskites (MeCNMeR)PbI (R = Me, Et), simply by stirring the material in the respective ketone at room temperature, triggering clear changes in the materials' photophysical properties.

Methods: The three MMQ scales (memory satisfaction, self-rated ability, and strategy application) were translated into German, considering cultural, linguistic, and conceptual aspects. To validate the MMQ and assess associations with neuropsychiatric factors, the Complainer Profile Identification, Geriatric Depression Scale, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and Short-Form-Health Survey were applied in an online study in 336 healthy participants with follow-up after 8 months.

Background: We investigated the associations between several reproductive factors related to childbearing and the variation (V) measure (a novel, objective, single summary measure of breast image intensity) by menopausal status.
Methods: Our study included 3,814 cancer-free women within the Nurses' Health Study (NHS) and NHSII cohorts. The data on reproductive variables and covariates were obtained from biennial questionnaires closest to the mammogram date.
Introduction: Management guidelines for low back pain (LBP) recommend exclusion of serious pathology, followed by simple analgesics, superficial heat therapy, early mobilisation and patient education. An audit in a large metropolitan hospital emergency department (ED) revealed high rates of non-recommended medication prescription for LBP (65% of patients prescribed opioids, 17% prescribed benzodiazepines), high inpatient admission rates (20% of ED LBP patients), delayed patient mobilisation (on average 6 hours) and inadequate patient education (48% of patients). This study aims to improve medication prescription for LBP in this ED by implementing an intervention shown previously to improve guideline-based management of LBP in other Australian EDs.

Although first metabolic and structural imaging alterations in Post-COVID-19 syndrome have been identified, their functional consequences remain unknown. Thus, we explored the impact of Post-COVID-19 syndrome on the functional connectome of the brain providing a deeper understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms.

More negative self-perceptions are often related to lower academic achievement. Linking these findings, we asked: Do children's self-perceptions help explain socioeconomic disparities in academic achievement around the world? We addressed this question using data from the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) survey, including n = 520,729 records of 15-year-old students from 70 countries.
