Purpose: We evaluated the pharmacokinetics, safety, and tolerability of a fixed-dose combination (FDC) of dapagliflozin/sitagliptin versus individual component (IC) tablets in healthy Western and Korean participants. The combination of these antihyperglycemic drugs provides efficient glucose control, and the use of FDC has generally been shown to improve medication adherence in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Methods: Two randomized, open-label, two-period, two-treatment, single-dose, single-center, crossover bioequivalence studies conducted on healthy fasted German participants (aged 18-55 years; Western study) and South Korean participants (aged 19-55 years; Korean study) were included.

Aims: Early clinical studies have indicated that the pharmacokinetics of Atuliflapon (AZD5718) are time and dose dependent. The reason(s) for these findings is(are) not fully understood, but pre-clinical profiling suggests that time-dependent CYP3A4 inhibition cannot be excluded. In clinical practice, Atuliflapon will be co-administered with CYP3A4 substrates; thus, it is important to determine the impact of Atuliflapon on the pharmacokinetics (PK) of CYP3A4 substrates.

Background: In clinical practice the diagnosis of diabetic foot osteomyelitis (DFO) relies on cultures of bone or ulcer bed (UB) biopsies, of which bone biopsy is reference standard. The slow growth or fastidious nature of some bacteria, hamper expeditious detection and identification. Rapid molecular techniques may solve both issues, but their additional value for everyday practice is unknown.

An absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion study was performed to determine the basic pharmacokinetic parameters, mass balance, and metabolite profiles of balcinrenone, a mineralocorticoid receptor modulator, in humans. This open-label, single-center, nonrandomized study had a two-period design. In period 1, eight healthy male subjects were dosed with a microtracer intravenous infusion of [C]balcinrenone shortly after receiving an oral dose of unlabeled balcinrenone in a capsule.

Background And Aims: A decrease in high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol concentrations during transgender hormone therapy has been shown. However, the ability of HDL to remove cholesterol from arterial wall macrophages, termed cholesterol efflux capacity (CEC), has proven to be a better predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD) largely independently of HDL-concentrations. In addition, the serum capacity to load macrophages with cholesterol (cholesterol loading capacity, CLC) represents an index of pro-atherogenic potential.
