Purpose: To evaluate effects and related factors of short-time accommodation training on measuring consistency of InnovEyes Sitemap (Alcon/WaveLight; Alcon Laboratories, Inc), NIDEK ARK-1 autorefractor (Nidek Corporation), and subjective refraction (SR).
Methods: One hundred adults (100 eyes) with myopia aged 17 to 40 years were enrolled. Refraction was obtained by InnovEyes Sitemap, autorefraction, and SR in a randomized order.
Purpose: To assess the feasibility of generating synthetic fluorescein angiography (FA) images from color fundus (CF) images using pixel-to-pixel generative adversarial network (pix2pixGANs) for clinical applications. Research questions addressed image realism to retinal specialists and utility for assessing macular edema (ME) in Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) eyes.
Methods: We used a registration-guided pix2pixGANs method trained on the CF-FA dataset from Kham Eye Centre, Kandze Prefecture People's Hospital.

Purpose: To propose and validate a meta-learning approach for detecting retinal vein occlusion (RVO) from multimodal images with only a few samples.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we formulate the problem as meta-learning. The meta-training dataset consists of 1254 color fundus (CF) images from 39 different fundus diseases.
Background/aim: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of combination therapy with diquafosol sodium and sodium hyaluronate in dry eye patients after small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE).
Patients And Methods: A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted on consecutive patients who were diagnosed with dry eye disease (DED) and ready to accept SMILE from January 2021 to December 2021. The participants were randomly allocated to either a combination with diquafosol sodium 3% and sodium hyaluronate 0.
Purpose: The goal of this study was to investigate the clinical outcomes of transepithelial phototherapeutic keratectomy (transepithelial PTK) for the treatment of severe band keratopathy.
Methods: A consecutive series of severe band keratopathy cases treated with transepithelial PTK were retrospectively analysed between January 2018 and December 2019. Severe band keratopathy was defined as corneal plaques apparent in the obscuration of iris details.
Objective To investigate the long-term safety and efficacy of Nd:YAG laser anterior capsulotomy for the treatment of anterior capsular phimosis. Methods We retrospectively analyzed a consecutive case series of Nd:YAG laser anterior capsulotomy in patients with anterior capsular phimosis, who were treated between November 2012 and April 2014. Data collected included risk factors, interval between surgery and capsulotomy, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), and diameter of anterior capsule opening before and after Nd:YAG laser anterior capsulotomy.

Jiangning eye study is a randomized, population based study in Shanghai to determine whether myopia has an effect on the prevalence of occludable angles.
Methods: A total of 2478 residents aged 50 years and over were randomly selected, and 2044 (82.
Aims: To describe the prevalence and associations of epiretinal membrane (ERM) in an elderly urban Chinese population in China.
Methods: A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted using a cluster random sample of residents aged 50 years or older living in the Jiangning Road Sub-district, Shanghai, China. All participants underwent a standardised interview and comprehensive eye examinations, including digital retinal photography and spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) examinations of both eyes between November 2012 and February 2013.

Purpose: To describe the prevalence of AMD in an elderly urban Chinese population in China.
Methods: A population-based, cross-sectional study was conducted using a cluster random sample of residents aged 50 years or older living in the Jiangning Road Subdistrict, Jing'an District, Shanghai, China. All participants underwent a standardized interview and comprehensive eye examinations, including digital retinal photography and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) examinations of both eyes between November 2012 and February 2013.
Purpose: To analyze the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of patients with bleb-associated endophthalmitis (BAE) in a Chinese population.
Methods: A retrospective review of patients treated for BAE between January 2003 and December 2010 in a single institution was performed. Data on visual acuity (VA), clinical characteristics, causative organisms, and treatment outcomes were collected and analyzed.
Purpose: To investigate the efficacy and safety of cationic nano-copolymers CS-g-(PEI-b-mPEG) mediated IκB kinase beta (IKKβ) targeting siRNA in modulating wound healing in a monkey model of glaucoma filtration surgery.
Methods: The IKKβ targeting siRNAs were chemically synthesized and screened in cultured monkey Tenon's fibroblasts in vitro. Fourteen monkeys underwent trabeculectomy and were randomly allocated to one of three treatment regimens: subconjunctival injection of either CS-g-(PEI-b-mPEG)/IKKβ-siRNA (six eyes, 50nM, at the time of surgery and 7 days post surgery) or phosphate buffered saline (four eyes), or treated with mitomycin C (MMC; four eyes, 0.
Purpose: To synthesize a ternary cationic copolymer called CS-g-(PEI-b-mPEG) and characterize its features as a non-viral siRNA carrier; in turn, to investigate the influence of small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting IkappaB kinase subunit beta (IKKbeta) on the proliferation of human Tenon's capsule fibroblasts (HTFs) in vitro.
Methods: First, a novel cationic copolymer composed of low molecular weight, linear poly(ethyleneimine) [PEI] blocked with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and grafted onto a chitosan (CS) molecule was synthesized. CS-g-(PEI-b-mPEG) was then compacted with 21nt siRNA at various copolymer/siRNA charge (N/P) ratios, and the resulting complexes were characterized by dynamic light scattering, gel electrophoresis, and serum incubation.

Objective: To study the influence of congenital bilateral cataract on visual-related quality of life (QoL) in children.
Methods: The scale of QoL for children with congenital bilateral cataract was used to evaluate the QoL of 81 children with congenital bilateral cataract and 28 healthy children with normal visual acuity. The average age of congenital bilateral cataract candidates was 9.
Background: Dense congenital cataracts often cause severe visual impairment. The results of long-term follow-up of dense bilateral congenital cataract in China have not been well documented. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term visual function in children who underwent cataract extraction for dense bilateral congenital cataract in southern part of China.

Objective: To develop and evaluate the 23-item quality of life (QoL) 125 scale contained four subscales for children with bilateral congenital cataract.
Methods: 18 children with normal visual acuity and 76 patients with congenital bilateral cataract (age range of 8 years to 15 years) were evaluated with QoL. The 23-item QoL scale contained the following subscales: visual function, self-care, sociality, and mentality.
Purpose: To investigate the imaging characteristics of ultrasound biomicroscope (UBM) in the different stages and evaluate preliminary application of UBM in diagnosis of senile cataract.
Methods: Using UBM to examine 80 eyes, which were diagnosed senile cataract by slit-lamp microscope (20 eyes, incipient stage; 20 eyes, intumescent stage; 20 eyes, mature stage; 20 eyes, hypermature stage).
Results: The UBM image of senile cataract is distinguished in the different stages.
Background: The advent of wavefront technology in the past five years has provided some insight into the optical outcomes of cataract surgery. The Tecnis Z9001 intraocular lens (Tecnis IOL, AMO) with a modified prolate anterior surface was claimed to reduce or even eliminate ocular spherical aberration to improve the visual quality. The purpose of this study was to determine whether Tecnis IOLs can improve the quality of vision as evaluated by measuring visual acuity, wavefront aberration, and contrast sensitivity.
