A Rare Case of Pulmonary Atresia with Ventricular Septal Defect with a Right Sided Aortic Arch and a Calcified Pulmonary AVM Presenting in an Adult without Cyanosis.

Pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect (PA-VSD) with pulmonary arterial supply arising from the aorta representing large MAPCAs associated with a right sided aortic arch is an uncommon anomaly. Most of the patients succumb to severe respiratory compromise or congestive cardiac failure very early. We report the clinical details and imaging findings of a case of PA-VSD with a right sided aortic arch and a calcified pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in a 21-year-old postpartum female with no previous episodes of cyanosis who was diagnosed as having a cardiac anomaly on echocardiography when she presented with breathlessness during the 8th month of the pregnancy.

How this low-abundance ubiquitin ligase targets rare stall-generated 60S among numerous empty 60S is unknown. Here, we show that Listerin specificity for nascent chain-60S complexes depends on nuclear export mediator factor (NEMF).

Immediate effects of tooth extraction on ridge integrity and dimensions.

Objectives: This study aims to assess possible immediate post-extraction changes in ridge integrity and width.

Methods: Tooth extractions (53 teeth in 30 adults) were performed following atraumatic techniques. Root trunk and ridge width were measured at the crest level in buccolingual direction.

Endodontic-periodontal microsurgery for combined endodontic-periodontal lesions: An overview.

Endodontic and periodontal microsurgery has surpassed the success rates for traditional endodontic and periodontal surgical procedures. Excellent healing results are being attributed to both the techniques, when employed, for isolated endodontic or periodontal defects. Combined endodontic-periodontal lesions have been referred to as a true challenge, requiring not only endodontic microsurgical management but also concurrent bone grafting and membrane barriers techniques.

Objective: This randomized controlled double-blinded split mouth study sought to compare the levels of dentinal hypersensitivity (DH) and pain after 660 nm laser irradiation in test and control sites following periodontal flap surgery.

Background: Oliver-McFarlane syndrome is characterised by trichomegaly, congenital hypopituitarism and retinal degeneration with choroidal atrophy. Laurence-Moon syndrome presents similarly, though with progressive spinocerebellar ataxia and spastic paraplegia and without trichomegaly. Both recessively inherited disorders have no known genetic cause.

The aphorism was to develop new chemical entities as potential anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic agents. The Leuckart synthetic pathway was utilized in development of novel series of 2-(substituted phenoxy)-N-(1-phenylethyl)acetamide derivatives. The compounds containing 1-phenylethylamine as basic moiety attached to substituted phenols were assessed for their anticancer activity against MCF-7 (breast cancer), SK-N-SH (neuroblastoma), anti-inflammatory activity, and analgesic activity.

Transient angioedema of small bowel secondary to intravenous iodinated contrast medium.

We report the clinical details and imaging findings of a case of transient angioedema of the small bowel following intravenous administration of non-ionic iodinated contrast material in a 17 year old female with no predisposing risk factors. Findings included long segment, symmetric, circumferential, low-density, bowel wall thickening involving the duodenum, jejunum, and most of the ileum on computed tomography scan obtained at 7 min following intravenous contrast material injection. This entity is self-limiting with a favourable clinical outcome and requires no specific treatment but only aggressive clinical monitoring.

ER stress-induced clearance of misfolded GPI-anchored proteins via the secretory pathway.

Proteins destined for the cell surface are first assessed in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) for proper folding before release into the secretory pathway. This ensures that defective proteins are normally prevented from entering the extracellular environment, where they could be disruptive. Here, we report that, when ER folding capacity is saturated during stress, misfolded glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored proteins dissociate from resident ER chaperones, engage export receptors, and quantitatively leave the ER via vesicular transport to the Golgi.

Evaluation and comparison of high-level microwave oven disinfection with chemical disinfection of dental gypsum casts.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare microwave disinfection with chemical disinfection of dental gypsum casts.

Materials And Methods: A total of 120 casts were prepared from a silicone mold using Type III dental stone. Of the 120 casts, 60 casts were contaminated with 1 ml suspension of Staphylococcus aureus and 60 casts were contaminated with 1 ml suspension of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

A major challenge in plasmonic hot spot fabrication is to efficiently increase the hot spot volumes on single metal nanoparticles to generate stronger signals in plasmon-enhanced applications. Here, the synthesis of designer nanoparticles, where plasmonic-active Au nanodots are selectively deposited onto the edge/tip hot spot regions of Ag nanoparticles, is demonstrated using a two-step seed-mediated precision synthesis approach. Such a "hot spots over hot spots" strategy leads to an efficient enhancement of the plasmonic hot spot volumes on single Ag nanoparticles.

Conservative management of unicystic ameloblastoma in a young child: a case report.

Unicystic ameloblastoma is a rare, benign, locally invasive odontogenic neoplasm of young age that shows clinical, radiographical or gross features of an odontogenic cyst, but it histologically shows typical ameloblastomatous epithelium lining part of the cyst cavity, with or without luminal and/or mural tumor growth. A case of asymptomatic unicystic ameloblastoma in an 11- year-old-female, who was treated by surgical enucleation followed by Carnoy's solution application for 5 minutes, is presented. The present case report describes the clinical and radiological behaviors, its importance and complexity of a differential diagnosis and treatment protocol of lesions in the mandibular molar-ramus area considering the special problems in children.

Renal cell carcinoma presenting as small bowel obstruction secondary to a metastatic ileal intussusception.

We report a rare clinical presentation of renal cell carcinoma in the form of small bowel obstruction which was secondary to a metastatic ileal intussusception. Intussusception in the elderly is most commonly due to an underlying neoplasm, however metastases from a renal cell carcinoma is very uncommon. We present clinical details, radiological and pathological findings of the case followed by a discussion of the diagnosis and management of intussusception in the adult population.

Extubation in the operating room after cardiac surgery in children: a prospective observational study with multidisciplinary coordinated approach.

Objective: This prospective observational study was undertaken to determine the feasibility of extubation of children in the operating room after cardiac surgery.

Design: A prospective observational study compared with historic controls.

Setting: A single tertiary care referral hospital.

We report clinical details and imaging findings for a case of emphysematous epididymo-orchitis with co-existing mycotic abdominal aortic aneurysm and a testicular artery pseudoaneurysm in a diabetic 65-year-old male. We report imaging findings from ultrasonography (USG) and contrast-enhanced multidetector computed tomography (MDCT). Use of MDCT to identify, confirm, and define the extent of the disease, and its utility in understanding the pathogenesis of this rare condition are highlighted.
