Purpose: Proper tooth alignment directs occlusal forces along the long axis, supporting optimal masticatory function and periodontal health. Deviations that lead to non-axial forces are common; however, teeth with such deviations often maintain optimal health. This study aims to assess various occlusal and periodontal parameters in teeth experiencing non-axial forces to better understand the underlying reasons and mechanisms that contribute to their maintained health status.

Various biofluids, such as blood, semen, vaginal fluid, menstrual blood, urine, and saliva, can be crucial evidence. In a murder case involving a knife attack, for instance, bloodstains from both the victim and perpetrator might be present.

In acute phase response, iron distribution occurs in the liver and mononuclear phagocytic system. A high prevalence of elevated serum ferritin levels is reported in HIV infection and serum ferritin levels increase with the clinical worsening of infection and with decreasing CD4 lymphocyte counts.

Hence this study was taken up to analyze the effect of varying interimplant distance on fracture resistance of implant supported provisional fixed dental prosthesis (FDP). A total of 24 bis-acrylate composite resin samples were prepared.

Aim: Assessment of occlusion changes during laboratory phase of relining is essential to evaluate the occlusal discrepancies that could get incorporated in the denture with the use of different relining materials. Since the long term stability and functional success of the denture is heavily influenced by occlusion, an In-vitro study to assess these changes after relining is warranted. The aim of the study is to evaluate the changes in occlusion during laboratory phase of relining procedure.

This attribute proves especially beneficial in unstructured environments and dynamic tasks such as food handling. Human hands, owing to their elevated dexterity and precise motor control, exhibit the ability to delicately manipulate complex food items, such as small or fragile objects, by dynamically adjusting their grasping configurations.

Cleft lip and palate are the most common orofacial anomalies affecting the quality of life of an individual. Bilateral cleft lip and palate are the most difficult to treat due to missing premaxilla, and removable prosthesis is the only treatment in such situations to satisfy esthetics, function, and phonetics. In this case report, we have discussed a novel technique of rehabilitating a bilateral cleft palate patient with a fixed hollow prosthesis that would replace the missing hard and soft tissue, yet is light weighed.

In this work, we present a low-cost, scalable, open-source edge computing system using Bluetooth low energy (BLE) beacons for tracking indoor movements in a large, 1700 m2 facility used to carry out therapeutic activities for participants with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The facility is instrumented with 39 edge computing systems, along with an on-premise fog server.

Dense polymeric membranes are now the main stay of industrial processes that generate oxygen and nitrogen enriched gas. Though, regular polymeric membranes often fall short of selective pressure demands because O and N gases have such comparable equivalent diameters.

Aims: The aim of this study was to assess the impact of prosthodontic rehabilitation on glycemic and lipid control in functionally and completely edentulous patients with diabetes.
Setting And Design: An in vivo study conducted with the intention of studying the potential link between edentulism and impaired masticatory efficiency with the nutritional status in diabetic patients.
Materials And Methods: A total of 20 diabetic patients based on the inclusion criteria were selected.
Purpose: To compare occlusal schemes with condylar inclination and anterior guidance in dentate individuals.
Materials And Methods: A total of 26 dentate patients of Indian origin between the ages of 18 and 30 with canine-guided occlusion and 26 patients with group function occlusion were included in the study. The School of Articulator Munich (SAM) Axioquick system was used to assess the condylar guidance and eccentric tracings of the patients.
Soft robotics is an exciting field of science and technology that enables robots to manipulate objects with human-like dexterity. Soft robots can handle delicate objects with care, access remote areas, and offer realistic feedback on their handling performance. However, increased dexterity and mechanical compliance of soft robots come with the need for accurate control of the position and shape of these robots.

One of the challenges to deploying photoelectrochemical (PEC) based electrolyzers is the difficulty in the effective capture of solar radiation as the illumination angle changes throughout the day. Herein, we demonstrate a method for the angle-independent capture of solar irradiation by using transparent 3 dimensional (3D) lattice structures as the photoanode in PEC water splitting.

Methods: The genome-wide association study of the phenotypic variation gathered by a newly designed phenomic platform with the over six millions single nucleotide polymorphic (SNP) loci distributed across the genomes of 417 Arabidopsis natural variants collected from various geographical regions revealed 33 candidate cold responsive genes.
Whether it is a plant- or animal-based bio-inspiration design, it has always been able to address one or more product/component optimisation issues. Today's scientists or engineers look to nature for an optimal, economically viable, long-term solution. Similarly, a proposal is made in this current work to use seven different bio-inspired structures for automotive impact resistance.

As we transition away from pandemic-induced isolation and social distancing, there is a need to estimate the risk of exposure in built environments. We propose a novel metric to quantify social distancing and the potential risk of exposure to airborne diseases in an indoor setting, which scales with distance and the number of people present. The risk of exposure metric is designed to incorporate the dynamics of particle movement in an enclosed set of rooms for people at different immunity levels, susceptibility due to age, background infection rates, intrinsic individual risk factors (e.

Herein, an alternative approach to the synthesis and coating of alloys and MMOs by femtosecond laser direct writing (FsLDW) is reported. A solution-based precursor ink is deposited and dried on the substrate and illuminated by a femtosecond laser.

Background: Dental implants have become a popular alternative in the oral and maxillofacial rehabilitation after the introduction of the concept of osseointegration. A poor density bone can negatively influence the bone to implant contact (BIC) and delay osseointegration. Various osteotomy techniques and drilling procedures have been used to increase stability in low-density bone.

The challenge, however, is to make the system non-intrusive, privacy-preserving, and low-cost. To this end, we describe an open-source edge computing and ambient data capture system, developed using low-cost and readily available hardware.

We formulate a new loss function that is equipped with an additional entropic regularization. Our loss function considers the contribution of adversarial samples that are drawn from a specially designed distribution in the data space that assigns high probability to points with high loss and in the immediate neighborhood of training samples.

In distributed machine learning, where agents collaboratively learn from diverse private data sets, there is a fundamental tension between and . In this paper, we build on recent algorithmic progresses in distributed deep learning to explore various consensus-optimality trade-offs over a fixed communication topology. First, we propose the -based distributed stochastic gradient descent (i-CDSGD) algorithm, which involves multiple consensus steps (where each agent communicates information with its neighbors) within each SGD iteration.
