Adenosine-Induced transient asystole during surgical treatment of basilar artery aneurysms.

Aim: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of adenosine-induced transient asystole (AITA) during surgery for basilar artery aneurysms.

Materials And Methods: All the patients with basilar artery aneurysms operated using AITA at our institute during two years period (August 2013-July 2015) were included in this study.

Results: Adenosine was used in 11 patients with 13 basilar artery aneurysms.

Sellar-Suprasellar Paraganglioma: Report of 2 Cases and Review of Literature.

Background: Intracranial paragangliomas are infrequent and those occurring in the sellar-suprasellar region are rare, with only 31 cases described in literature.

Case Description: We describe 2 cases of sellar-suprasellar paragangliomas in the light of a literature review. The first patient was a 13-year-old boy who presented with an intensely enhancing lesion in the sellar-suprasellar region with multiple flow voids within.

Clinical Profile and Predictors of Outcome in Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage from a Tertiary Care Centre in South India.

This article attempts to evaluate the clinical profile and outcome determinants following hypertensive SICH in a South Indian population. The study represents the largest series of SICH reported from a single centre in India. Prospective data collection and analysis of patients with SICH admitted to our centre between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2018.

Early life is a critical and sensitive period whereby environmental imprints on later life are generated. These environmental influences from early life have long-lasting consequences on for mental health. Both human and animal work suggests that maternal presence constitutes an important part of the early experience.

Aim: The aim of this review article is not only to analyze the clinical burden of methicillin-resistant (MRSA) in intensive care unit (ICU) setting of India, along with the patterns of prevalence and its prevention measures, but also to focus on the new anti-MRSA research molecules which are in late stage of clinical development.

Background: Methicillin resistance is reported to be present in 13-47% of infections in India. Therapeutic options to combat MRSA are becoming less, because of emerging resistance to multiple classes of antibiotics.

In the fundamental laws of physics, gauge fields mediate the interaction between charged particles. An example is the quantum theory of electrons interacting with the electromagnetic field, based on U(1) gauge symmetry. Solving such gauge theories is in general a hard problem for classical computational techniques.

Parenting attitudes and dimensions as predictors of adolescent behavioural problems in the Indian context: A community-based study.

Introduction: Adolescent behavioural problems are a growing public health concern. The authors in this study investigated paternal and maternal reports of parenting attitudes and dimensions as predictors of adolescent behavioural problems in the Indian context.

Materials And Methods: Using stratified sampling at the community level, 640 parents including 419 mothers and 221 fathers participated in the study.

Parental Involvement - Perceptions of Parents and their Adolescent Children.

Objective: To explore the experiences of parents and their adolescent children, specifically the dimension of parental involvement in the lives of their adolescent children and how adolescents perceived it.

Methods: Following informed consent, a total of nine families with 22 participants took part in the study including nine adolescents, aged between 14 and 16 y, and 13 parents. One-on-one in-depth interviews were conducted at their homes following informed consent.

Pharmacist impact on health outcomes in a homeless population.

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of clinical pharmacy services on health outcomes and medication adherence concerning hypertension and diabetes in the homeless population.

Methods: This was a retrospective quasi-experimental study conducted between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016. The primary outcomes included median blood pressure and median glycosylated hemoglobin (A1C) change from baseline.

The ubiquitin-proteasome pathway (UPP) has multiple roles in the normal nervous system, including the development of synaptic connections and synaptic plasticity. Research over the past several years has indicated a role for the UPP in aging without any overt pathology in the brain. In addition, malfunction of the UPP is implicated in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and dementia associated with it.

Acidogenic Potential of Packaged Fruit Juices and its Effect on Plaque and Salivary pH.

Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze the acidogenic potential of the various commercially available fruit juices and to evaluate the salivary and plaque pH changes before and after consumption of the fruit juices that were kept at various temperatures.

Materials And Methods: Baseline plaque and salivary pH were measured for 30 volunteers, and the test was conducted for 4 consecutive days on which juices with a known pH was consumed, which were kept at varying temperatures. The resulting changes in the plaque and salivary pH were measured after 1, 5, 15, and 30 minutes of the consumption of the fruit juices using a portable standard digital pH meter.

Brain pathology identification using computer aided diagnostic tool: A systematic review.

Computer aided diagnostic (CAD) has become a significant tool in expanding patient quality-of-life by reducing human errors in diagnosis. CAD can expedite decision-making on complex clinical data automatically. Since brain diseases can be fatal, rapid identification of brain pathology to prolong patient life is an important research topic.

The TCP4 Transcription Factor Directly Activates and and Suppresses Trichome Initiation.

Trichomes are the first line of defense on the outer surface of plants against biotic and abiotic stresses. Because trichomes on leaf surfaces originate from the common epidermal progenitor cells that also give rise to pavement cells and stomata, their density and distribution are under strict genetic control. Regulators of trichome initiation have been identified and incorporated into a biochemical pathway wherein an initiator complex promotes trichome fate in an epidermal progenitor cell, while an inhibitor complex suppresses it in the neighboring cells.

Effect of calcium glucoheptonate on proliferation and osteogenesis of osteoblast-like cells in vitro.

Calcium is the key macromineral having a role in skeletal structure and function, muscle contraction, and neurotransmission. Bone remodeling is maintained through a constant balance between calcium resorption and deposition. Calcium deficiency is resolved through calcium supplementation, and among the supplements, water-soluble organic molecules attracted great pharmaceutical interest.

Supraorbital Craniotomy for Large Anterior Skull Base Meningiomas: A Technical Note.

Background: Supraorbital craniotomy (SOC) has brought a paradigm shift in approaching anterior skull base lesions. With better understanding of relevant anatomy, the indications are being stretched from highly selected, small-to-moderate-sized tumors to large and complex anterior skull base lesions.

Revascularization of an Immature Permanent Central Incisor with Complicated Crown Root Fracture: A Case Report.

Unlabelled: The treatment of complicated crown root fracture in children possesses a great challenge to pedodontists. A 10-year-old boy presented with trauma to the permanent maxillary left central incisor. Upon clinical and radiographic examination, revealed mobility of coronal fragment, open apex, and vertical fracture involving enamel dentin and pulp.

Correlation between tibial nail length and olecrenon to 5th metacarpal head measurement: An anthropometric study.

Purpose: During fracture fixation, the size of tibial nail is a vital factor affecting the outcomes and thus preoperative estimation of tibial nail length is very important. This study aims to find out whether "olecranon to 5th metacarpal head" (O-MH) measurement can be used to reliably predict the tibial nail length.

Methods: This was a cross sectional study involving 100 volunteers.
