Background: This retrospective, cross-sectional study aimed to assess the functional hearing capacity of individuals with Chronic Otitis Media (COM) using prediction modeling techniques and the Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly (HHIE) questionnaire. This study investigated the potential of predictive models to identify hearing levels in patients with COM.
Methods: We comprehensively examined 289 individuals diagnosed with COM, of whom 136 reported tinnitus and 143 did not.
Cisplatin is an effective chemotherapy agent against various solid malignancies; however, it is associated with irreversible bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, emphasizing the need for drug development to prevent this complication, with the current options being very limited. Rho-associated coiled-coil-containing protein kinase (ROCK) is a serine-threonine protein kinase involved in various cellular processes, including apoptosis regulation. In this study, we used a transgenic zebrafish model (Brn3C: EGFP) in which hair cells within neuromasts are observed in green under fluorescent microscopy without the need for staining.

In 2014, a generic formulation of clozapine (Clzapine) was introduced in Korea. This study was performed to provide clinical information regarding the use of clozapine and to compare efficacy and tolerability when converting from the brand-name formulation (Clozaril) to the generic formulation during longterm maintenance treatment among Korean patients with schizophrenia.

We investigated the effect of unilateral or bilateral deficits in the vestibular organs on the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) and optokinetic reflex (OKR) of zebrafish using in-house equipment. For physical dislodgement of the otoliths in the utricles of zebrafish larvae, one or both utricles were separated from the surrounding tissue using glass capillaries.

We focused on understanding DA2's impact on zebrafish hair cells, which are vital for sensory perception and balance regulation. DA2, provided by the Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea, was used at 460 μg/mL in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), with a 0.

Because of the slow growth of the tumor, predicting the hearing function of patients with vestibular schwannoma's is important to obtain information that would be useful for deciding the treatment modality. This study aimed to analyze the association between magnetic resonance imaging features and hearing status using a new radiomics technique.

This study compared the effects of hydrophilic and lipophilic statin on hearing loss using a common database model. This retrospective multicenter study was conducted in three hospitals in South Korea (Anam, Guro, Ansan).

In such cases, the implementation of a TORP bypassing the stapes can be a useful alternative. This study aimed to investigate whether bypassing the stapes suprastructure during total ossicular replacement prosthesis (TORP) affects postoperative complications or audiological outcomes.

This retrospective multicenter cohort study assessed the data of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) aged over 40 years using the Observational Health Data Science and Informatics open-source software and the Common Data Model database from 1 January 2002 to 31 December 2019. Each participant was selected using the ICD-10-CM diagnosis code E11 for type 2 DM with sensorineural hearing loss.

Material And Methods: Among the patients who visited our hospital from January 2010 to December 2021, the characteristics associated prognosis of 54 patients with unilateral PISSNHL were retrospectively confirmed.
Background And Purpose: Paracetamol (acetaminophen)-induced hepatotoxicity is the leading cause of drug-induced liver injury worldwide. Autophagy is a degradative process by which various cargoes are collected by the autophagic receptors such as p62/SQSTM1/Sequestosome-1 for lysosomal degradation. Here, we investigated the protective role of p62-dependent autophagy in paracetamol-induced liver injury.

Despite the enhanced engraftment of BMCs by co-administration of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), the efficiency can be variable depending on MSC donor. The purpose of this study is to examine the functional heterogeneity of tonsil-derived MSCs (TMSCs) and to identify a marker to evaluate efficacy for the enhancement of BMC migration.

We investigated the supportive effect of tonsil-derived mesenchymal stem cells (TMSCs) on ROS generation from neutrophils using promyelocytic HL-60 cells. Methods: Differentiated HL-60 (dHL-60) cells were cocultured with TMSCs isolated from 25 independent donors, and ROS generation in dHL-60 cells was measured using luminescence.

Although ceramide levels are increased in murine allergic asthma models and in asthmatic patients, the precise role of SLs with specific chain lengths is still unclear. The role of CerS2, which mainly synthesizes C22-C24 ceramides, was investigated in immune responses elicited by airway inflammation using CerS2 null mice.

Specifically, TMSCs have been shown to differentiate into the endodermal lineage. Estrogen deficiency is a major cause of postmenopausal osteoporosis and is associated with higher incidences of ischemic heart disease and cerebrovascular attacks during the postmenopausal period.
