Introduction And Objective: Several authors have found increased anxiety in patients the day before an intervention and its correlation with anxiety levels the post-operative period. In this study, we determined a number of problems to which patients who underwent total laryngectomy often objected: the tracheostomy, being left without a voice and it being an aggressive, major surgery. Our objective was to assess the degree of anxiety and fears of the patient prior to total laryngectomy.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of endoscopic ligation of the sphenopalatine artery in the treatment of severe posterior epistaxis.

Methods: We have carried out a retrospective study on 50 patients hospitalised with posterior recurrent epistaxis, in whom posterior nasal packing was not effective. All of them underwent surgical treatment, with endoscopic ligation of the sphenopalatine artery to control the epistaxis.

Mucormycosis is a serious condition, usually acute and often fatal, It presents in its most aggressive form in debilitated hosts, usually with diabetic ketoacidosis or immunosuppression. As otolaryngologists, we must diagnose it as early as possible, establish early treatment with amphotericin B and perform a surgical manoeuvre to obtain infection-free margins. It is rare and largely unknown, contributing to delayed diagnosis.

Introduction And Goals: We have studied the relationship between the minimum stapedial reflex thresholds induced by means of the intra-operative stimulation of the cochlear implant and the post-operative thresholds of highest auditory comfort level.

Methods: We have assessed the maximum auditory comfort at the end of the first and second quarters following activation of the cochlear implant, by which time the strategy for codification of the stimuli and the programming map are considered to be already stable. The study was carried out at our cochlear implants unit.
