Pathogenic variants in the cyclin-dependent kinase-like 5 (CDKL5) gene are associated with CDKL5 deficiency disorder (CDD), a severe X-linked developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. Deletions affecting the 5' untranslated region (UTR) of CDKL5, which involve the noncoding exon 1 and/or alternatively spliced first exons (exons 1a-e), are uncommonly reported. We present a compact closed-loop recycling system for noble and inert gases. It has been developed for an extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) frequency comb based on high-harmonic generation at 100 MHz repetition rate. The system collects gas injected at several bars of backing pressure through a micrometer-sized nozzle into the laser-interaction region with a differential pumping system comprising turbomolecular pumps, and subsequently compresses the gas to a pressure of up to 200 bar.

Neuromuscular junction (NMJ) dysfunction underlies several diseases, including congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMSs) and motor neuron disease (MND). We investigated the fermentation of a mixture of oat and soybean hulls (1:1) subjected to acid (AH) or enzymatic (EH) hydrolyses, with both showing high osmotic pressures (> 1200 Osm kg) for the production of ethanol. Yeasts of genera Spathaspora, Scheffersomyces, Sugiymaella, and Candida, most of them biodiverse Brazilian isolates and previously untested in bioprocesses, were cultivated in these hydrolysates.
