Introduction And Objectives: Patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention in vessels with moderate-to-severe tortuosity are at higher risk of adverse outcomes, but data are scarce in the era of newer-generation stents. We compared outcomes following percutaneous coronary intervention in vessels with moderate-to-severe tortuosity using a bioresorbable-polymer sirolimus-eluting stent (BP-SES) vs a durable-polymer everolimus-eluting stent.

Methods: A total of 2350 patients from the BIOFLOW II, IV, and V randomized trials were stratified into 2 groups based on target-vessel tortuosity: none-to-mild and moderate-to-severe.

Background: Coronary angioplasty and stent insertion is a first line treatment for patients with coronary artery disease, however it is complicated in the long-term by in-stent restenosis (ISR) in a proportion of patients with an associated morbidity. Despite this, currently there are no effective treatments available for the prevention of ISR. Repeat percutaneous revascularisation carries increased risks of major adverse cardiovascular events and a higher incidence of stent failure.

Background: Hemoglobin (Hgb) drop without bleeding is common among patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement; however, the clinical implications of significant Hgb drop have not been fully evaluated.

Coronary artery disease is defined by the existence of atherosclerotic plaque on the arterial wall, which can cause blood flow impairment, or plaque rupture, and ultimately lead to myocardial ischemia. Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging can provide a detailed characterization of lumen and vessel features, and so plaque burden, in coronary vessels. Prediction of the regions in a vascular segment where plaque burden can either increase (progression) or decrease (regression) following a certain therapy, has remained an elusive major milestone in cardiology.
