Article Synopsis
  • * The research introduces a new enzyme-free detection method called CHAzymi, which uses DNAzyme and catalytic hairpin assembly for both in vitro and in situ miRNA detection, particularly focusing on miR-146b, a marker for papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).
  • * This system allows for quantitative detection of miR-146b and has been tested on human PTC cell lines and patient samples, indicating its potential as a novel diagnostic tool that could enhance miRNA detection and treatment strategies in a clinical context.

DNA methylation, a kind of epigenetic alteration, plays a vital role in tumorigenesis and offers a new class of targets for cancer treatment. DNA hypermethylation at the E-Box site (CACGTG, -288 bp) in the SLC22A2 promoter was related to multidrug resistance of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), which can provide the target for both treatment and monitoring. Herein, we developed a novel phosphorothioated primer based loop-mediated isothermal amplification (PS-LAMP) assay to detect circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) methylation levels in E-Box sites in tumor tissue, urine, and plasma samples from patients with RCC.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as cyclooxygenase (Cox)-1/2 inhibitor, have emerged as potent antipyretics and analgesics. However, few herbs with Cox-1/2 inhibitory activity are commonly used for heat-clearing in China. Although these are known to have antipyretic activity, there is a lack of molecular data supporting their activity.

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a serious public health challenge in the world. According to the treatment instructions by Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) 2020, bronchiectasis combine with inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting anti-muscarinic agents were recommended as the main prescription. However, this symptomatic treatment still has ineluctable limits because it ignored the most pathogenesis mechanism of COPD.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the role of DOCK6 in oral squamous cell cancer (OSCC), finding that its expression is significantly increased in OSCC tissues compared to normal tissues.
  • Higher levels of DOCK6 were linked to various negative clinical outcomes such as older age, lymph node metastasis, and advanced clinical stages, indicating its potential as a prognostic factor for OSCC patients.
  • DOCK6 silencing reduced OSCC cell migration and invasion, suggesting that targeting DOCK6 could be a promising therapeutic strategy for improving patient outcomes in OSCC.

Purpose: Ca-activated chloride channel TMEM16A has been found to be overexpressed in many cancers including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Nevertheless, the role of TMEM16A in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains unclear. Although simvastatin is known to produce anti-tumor effect, the mechanisms by which simvastatin inhibits cancer remain unclear.

This study aims to investigate the anticancer effect of Oroxin B (OB) both in vitro and in vivo, and the molecular mechanism involved in microRNA-221 and the PI3K/Akt/PTEN pathway through modulation of apoptosis in Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). DEN-induced rats and HepG2 cells based on the microfluidic chip were employed, while the mRNA and protein expression of microRNA-221, PI3K, p-Akt and PTEN were evaluated by RT-PCR and Western blot analysis. Based on Microfluidic Chip and DEN-induced rat model, OB effectively exerts anti-liver cancer effect both in vitro and in vivo, and the expression of miR-221 in OB treated groups was significantly lower than that in the control group (** < 0.

Purpose: To date, consensus has not been reached on which treatment modality, that is, in-continuity neck dissection or discontinuous neck dissection, is more appropriate for managing patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the tongue and floor of the mouth. This study aimed to perform a meta-analysis to compare discontinuous neck dissection with in-continuity neck dissection as a treatment modality for SCC of the tongue and floor of the mouth.

Materials And Methods: The PubMed, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang databases were searched for articles that compared discontinuous neck dissection with in-continuity neck dissection in SCC of the tongue and floor of the mouth until March 1, 2017.
