Introduction: Endobronchial mucormycosis is very rare with only few cases reported in the literature. Here, we report a rare presentation of pulmonary mucormycosis in a diabetic patient who presented with left lung collapse. Bronchoscopy revealed an endobronchial growth, mimicking a tumor, causing complete occlusion of the left main bronchus.

Aim: The study aimed to assess the relationships between serum cytokine levels and pulmonary dysfunctions in individuals with COVID-19. These correlations may help to suggest strategies for prevention and therapies of coronavirus disease. Patients and methods: Fifty healthy participants and one hundred COVID-19 patients participated in this study.

Aim: The study evaluated the correlations between cytokine levels, liver function markers, and neuropilin-1 (NRP-1) expression in patients with COVID-19 in Egypt. The study also aimed to evaluate the accuracy sensitivity, specificity, and area under the curve (AUC) of the tested laboratory parameters in identifying COVID-19 infection and its severity. Patients and Methods: Fifty healthy subjects and 100 confirmed patients with COVID-19 were included in this study.

Background: COVID-19 impacts the cardiovascular system resulting in myocardial damage, and also affects the kidneys leading to renal dysfunction. This effect is mostly through the binding with angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and Neuropilin-1 (NRP-l) receptors. Toll-Like Receptors (TLRs) typically combine with microbial pathogens and provoke an inflammatory response.

Background: Higher expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE-2) in addition to neuropilin-1 (NRP-1) can lead to a cytokine storm which is correlated to higher mortality rate and contributes to the progression of renal diseases and the pathogenesis of coronary heart disease (CHD) in COVID-19 patients.

Aim: We herein sought to examine correlations between cytokine levels, ACE-2 and NRP-1 expression, renal function biomarkers, and cardiac enzymes in COVID-19 patients.

Patients And Methods: For the study, 50 healthy subjects and 100 COVID-19 patients were enrolled.

Objectives: Different biomarkers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), serum ferritin and D-dimer are used in prognostic assessment of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. Presepsin (PSP) is a soluble CD14 subtype that has recently been proposed as a novel biomarker in patients with sepsis. The aim of the current study was to detect the relation of PSP to the outcome of COVID-19 as well as its relation to other inflammatory biomarkers.

Background: Pleurodesis fails in 10%-40% of patients with recurrent malignant pleural effusions malignant pleural effusion and dyspnea. This study aimed to assess the values of pleural elastance (PEL) after the aspiration of 500 mL of pleural fluid and their relation to the pleurodesis outcome, and to compare the pleurodesis outcome with the chemical characteristics of pleural fluid.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted in Kasr El-Aini Hospital, Cairo University, during the period from March 2019 to January 2020.

Background: Weaning failure is common in mechanically ventilated patients, and if ultrasound can predict weaning outcome remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diaphragmatic function (thickness and excursion) measured by ultrasound as a predictor of the extubation outcome.

Methods: We included 62 mechanically ventilated patients from the chest intensive care unit in this study.
