Citrus is one of the world's most popular and widely cultivated fruits. The processing of citrus fruits for juice extraction generates solid and liquid biowaste, a valuable bio-resource that can be utilized in various sectors, including food and non-food industries. Incorporating Circular Economy (CE) principles into the citrus supply chain offers numerous opportunities but also presents certain barriers.

Acute Esophageal Necrosis and Duodenal Disease in the Setting of Recently Initiated Chemotherapy.

Introduction: Acute esophageal necrosis (AEN), commonly referred to as "black esophagus" or Gurvits syndrome, is a rare condition characterized by diffuse black mucosa in the distal esophagus. Most often, the patient is an older male with multiple comorbidities, presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The exact pathogenesis is unclear, but it is often thought to be secondary to acute vascular hypo-perfusion or ischemia of the esophageal mucosa in critically ill patients with certain secondary comorbid conditions such as renal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, coronary artery disease, malnourishment, alcohol abuse, or association with an underlying malignancy.

Secondary Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura Due to Primary Epstein- Barr Virus Infection.

A rare complication of infectious mononucleosis is immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). The majority of people affected by Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) are below the age of 30, while ITP is usually seen with peaks of incidence in the elderly and children. The unique case of an otherwise healthy 22-year-old female will be discussed, with an initial presentation of ecchymosis, rash, and epistaxis, and was subsequently found to have severe thrombocytopenia.
