The exposure of the African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) to various environmental contaminants leads to physiological and histological alterations. Therefore, the study aimed to assess the impact of seasonal variations of ecological contaminants as external stressors and internal stressors via helminth infections on oxidative stress and histopathology in resident C. gariepinus at EL-Salam Canal, Egypt.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The popularity of herbal medicine is expanding globally due to the common belief that herbal products are natural and nontoxic. Thymelaea hirsuta leaves are traditionally used for the treatment of recurrent abortion in humans and animals. However, a lack of safety evaluation of the plant, particularly in pregnant women, raises serious concerns regarding its potential embryotoxic effects.

The modulatory role of primrose oil (PO) supplementation enriched with γ-linolenic acid and D/L-alpha tocopherol acetate against a carbon tetrachloride (CCl)-induced liver damage model was assessed in this study. Twenty male Albino rats were divided into four groups. The control group received corn oil orally.

This study sought to determine whether lactoferrin supplementation could counteract the harm that cadmium (Cd) induced to the rats. The effect of Cd and lactoferrin were investigated in hematological, biochemical, histological, immunohistochemical expression and ultrastructural studies. After 30 days of treatment, rats exposed to Cd had significantly higher levels of Cd in their blood, more oxidized lipids, and less antioxidant capacity overall.

Thiacloprid (TH) is a neurotoxic agricultural insecticide and potential food contaminant. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between TH exposure and memory dysfunction in rats, as well as the potential protective effect of piracetam and piracetam-loaded magnetic chitosan nanoparticles (PMC NPs). Rats were divided into five equal groups (six rats/group).

The current study aimed to assess the impact of metal pollution in water on parasitic abundance, biology, and histopathological characteristics of Oreochromis niloticus in two different freshwater habitats in the Al Sharkia government. The fish were collected from the Mueweis canal area (A) which received industrial wastewater from factories and the San El-Hagar area (B) which received agricultural and domestic wastewater. Parasitic abundance and histopathological changes in the liver and gonads were inspected.

This study assessed the effectiveness of an aqueous extract of Moringa Oleifera Lam. leaves (MOL) alone or in combination with praziquantel (PZQ) drug targeting-infected mice with Schistosoma mansoni-induced liver and spleen damage. Mice were divided into eight groups control mice group treated orally with saline.

The goal of this study was to assess the harmful effects of heavy metal accumulation on Clarias gariepinus (catfish) in two different polluted areas in the Al Sharkia governorate and assess the impact on oxidative stress and histological changes. The results revealed a highly significant difference in heavy metal levels in the water and inside fish tissues (liver and gonads) between the two sites. The total prevalence of parasitic infection was at the highest percentage in area B, in addition to severe histopathological damage to the liver and the gonads.

Endocrine-disrupting compounds as pesticides affect the hormonal balance, and this can result in several diseases. Therefore, the analysis of representative hormones with acetamiprid (AC) and azoxystrobin (AZ) was a good strategy for the investigation of the endocrine-disrupting activity of pesticides. Hence, a sensitive and rapid analytical method using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was developed.

The goal of this study was to investigate the protective effect of licorice supplements in a rat model of Bleomycin-induced lung oxidative damage over a duration of one month. The rats were randomly divided into six groups ( = 10 per group). Control group; Bleomycin group (B): rats were IP injected with bleomycin 5 mg/kg twice weekly.

This experiment aimed to investigate the effect of dietary Nigella sativa on the cell-mediated immune response. Eighteen male Wistar rats were divided equally into a control group and treated groups that received black seeds at rates of 30 and 50 g/kg in the diet (Sa30 and Sa50 groups, respectively, for 30 days. The weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and cell-mediated immune response were monitored after the injection of 0.

The aim of these investigations was to study vitamin E supplement effect in male albino rats after 30 days of repeated treatment. Four groups of six male rats were orally administered distilled water (control), 500, 1000 and 2000 mg/kg body weight vitamin E daily for 30 days. The impact of the treatment on percent body weight and mortality was determined and compared to the control group.
