- A newly created national DNA barcode resource for the UK's native flowering plants and conifers includes 1,482 species, primarily sourced from herbarium collections.
- Although the Sanger sequencing method achieved high sequence recovery rates (up to 98%) for UK flora, older herbarium specimens showed lower success rates, with ITS2 providing the best species-level discrimination despite its retrieval challenges.
