This open-label phase 1 study (clinicaltrials.gov, NCT03555955) assessed CPX-351 pharmacokinetics (PK) and safety in patients with hematologic malignancies with normal or impaired renal function. Patients were enrolled into three cohorts based on their creatinine clearance (CrCl): ≥90 mL/min (Cohort 1, normal renal function, = 7), 30 to <59 mL/min (Cohort 2, moderate renal impairment, = 8), or <30 mL/min (Cohort 3, severe renal impairment, = 6).

Treatment options for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) have expanded over the last 5 years. New regimens are increasing the options for patients who previously may not have been offered any antineoplastic therapy. The use of the hypomethylating agent (HMA) decitabine or azacitidine combined with the BCL2 inhibitor venetoclax (HMA-VEN) has improved overall survival in an older and unfit population compared to HMA therapy alone.

The data were retrieved from the NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tools (RePORT). In 2018-2019, 1834 grants totaling $799 million were awarded (men 71% vs.

There exists considerable need to develop effective education strategies to teach resident physicians basic concepts in oncology. We created a 2-hour small-group interactive workshop, using interactive cases, followed by a number of questions regarding curability, survival, and possible treatment options.

Background: Histoplasmosis is an endemic fungal disease with diverse clinical presentations. Histoplasmosis-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare disorder with limited data regarding treatment and outcome. We described the clinical features, treatment, and outcomes of five patients in our institution with histoplasmosis-associated HLH.

Case 1: 28-year-old G2P1 with lupus presented at 18 weeks with acute hypoxic respiratory failure, hepatic dysfunction, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and elevated ferritin.
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare syndrome characterized by excessive activation of the immune system. Bacterial infections are very rare precipitants of this disease. A 19-year-old gentleman presented with headache, fatigue, and malaise.

We hypothesized that rates of molecular testing would be higher in an academic center versus community sites. A retrospective chart review included all de novo AML patients (excluding M3) at Kansas University Medical Center (KUMC) from January 2008 through April 2013.

The most prevalent molecular abnormality in NSCLC is the overactivation of K-Ras proto-oncogene; therefore, elucidating down-stream Ras signaling in NSCLC is significantly important in developing novel therapies against this malignancy. Our work indicates that RalA, an important effector of Ras, is activated in NSCLC cell lines.
