Area-level socioeconomic status (SES) impacts cancer outcomes, such as stage at diagnosis, treatments received, and mortality. However, less is known about the relationship between area-level SES and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) for cancer survivors. To assess the additive value of area-level SES data and the relative contribution of area- and individual-level SES for estimating cancer survivors' HRQOL, we conducted a secondary analysis of data from a population-based survey study of cancer survivors (the Measuring Your Health [MY-Health] Study).

Purpose: Most patients with cancer lack the prognostic understanding necessary to make informed decisions. We tested the feasibility and acceptability of the Oncolo-GIST ("Giving Information Strategically and Transparently, GIST") intervention and explored its associations with patients' improved prognostic understanding.

Methods: The Oncolo-GIST intervention distills prognostic discussions into easy-to-understand talking points.

: Scan-related anxiety ("scanxiety") is distressing to people living with and beyond cancer. We conducted a scoping review to promote conceptual clarity, identify research practices and gaps, and guide intervention strategies for adults with a current or prior cancer diagnosis. Following a systematic search, we screened 6820 titles and abstracts, evaluated 152 full-text articles, and selected 36 articles.

Objective: People living with HIV (PLWH) frequently experience pain, which often co-occurs with psychological symptoms and may impact functional outcomes. We investigated cross-sectional associations between pain, depressive symptoms, and inflammation, and then explored whether pain was related to poorer physical function among older PLWH.

Methods: We examined data from PLWH aged 54 to 78 years ( n = 162) recruited from a single outpatient program for a larger study on HIV and aging.

Background: Older people with HIV experience more comorbidities and geriatric syndromes than their HIV-negative peers, perhaps due to residual inflammation despite suppressive antiretroviral therapy. Cell-free mitochondrial DNA (cfmtDNA) released during necrosis-mediated cell death potentially acts as both mediator and marker of inflammatory dysregulation. Thus, we evaluated plasma cfmtDNA as a potential biomarker of geriatric syndromes.
