Background: Reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is typically performed in patients with cuff tear arthropathy. A common type of RSA baseplate has a central peg and 4 peripheral screws inserting into the glenoid surface. Baseplate failure is a significant postoperative complication that reduces prosthetic longevity and usually requires revision surgery.

We conducted a population-based study to determine the association between morbid obesity and 10-year survival and revision surgery in patients undergoing primary TKA.
Methods: A cohort study of 9817 patients aged 18-60 years treated with primary TKA from April 1, 2002 to March 31, 2007 was conducted using Ontario administrative health-care databases of universal health-care coverage.
Background: Osseous overgrowth is a common problem in children after tibial transcortical amputation. We present the results of forty-seven children (fifty tibiae) treated for tibial osseous overgrowth with an autologous osteocartilaginous cap from the proximal part of the ipsilateral fibula.
Methods: We reviewed the records of all patients who underwent amputation at a single pediatric hospital from 1990 to 2011.
Hip resurfacing arthroplasty (HRA) is a treatment of end-stage hip arthritis in young patients with excellent bone stock. One hundred four consecutive HRAs (Depuy ASR, Warsaw, Ind) were performed with 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36), Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index, Harris Hip Scores, and University of California, Los Angeles activity ratings obtained preoperatively, at 6 months, and at 1 and 2 years postoperatively. Four patients required conversion to total hip arthroplasty.

This study used computer simulation to endeavor to quantify the relative degree of difficulty of resurfacing femora with pistol-grip deformities compared to relatively normal femora. Computer models of five pistol-grip femora and one relatively normal femur were computed from computed tomography (CT) scans of patients who had undergone computer-assisted hip resurfacing. A computer simulation of positioning the femoral resurfacing component on the femur was performed to count the number of acceptable configurations of the component on the femur.

A 32-question, 5-point Likert scale questionnaire was developed and administered to a Canadian cohort. One hundred fifty-six knee and 85 hip arthroplasty patients returned the survey.

The aim of this study was to determine the number of persons with the capacity to benefit from evidence-based effective stroke services. Population-based survey and registry data along with published, evidence-based recommendations for services were used to determine the number of persons in Eastern Ontario with stroke (including risk factors, acute stroke and chronic stroke) and their related need for services (including prevention programs, diagnostic services, treatment of acute stroke and rehabilitation).
