A 67-year-old female with recent hospitalization for pneumonia was transferred to our facility for high fevers and positive blood cultures for staph aureus. During her treatment for pneumonia, central venous catheter was placed. A systolic murmur was found in conjunction with fever and notable premature ventricular contractions on telemetry monitoring.

Two lost airways and one unexpected problem: undiagnosed tracheal stenosis in a morbidly obese patient.

Anesthetic care of the morbidly obese is complex due to anatomic and physiologic alterations. Airway management in particular can be challenging. High body mass index is predictive of difficult ventilation and possibly difficult intubation.

Development of Advanced Imaging Criteria for the Endoscopic Identification of Inflammatory Polyps.

Objectives: Inflammatory polyps (IPs) are frequently encountered at colonoscopy in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and are associated with an increased risk of colon cancer. The aim of this prospective endoscopic image review and analysis was to describe endoscopic features of IPs in IBD patients at surveillance colonoscopy and determine the ability to endoscopically discern IPs from other colon polyps using high-definition white light (WL), narrow band imaging with magnification (NBI), and chromoendoscopy (CE).

Methods: Digital images of IPs using WL, NBI, and CE were reviewed by four attending gastroenterologists using a two-round modified Delphi method.
