The design and fabrication of materials that can concurrently respond to light and gas within the dual-modal recognition domain present a significant challenge due to contradictory structural requirements. This innovative strategy introduces a type-I heterojunction, combining the properties of SbTe and WSe nanosheets, to overcome these obstacles. The heterojunction is prepared through a precise stacking approach to create a single-side barrier on the valence band and a near-zero offset on the conduction band.

Postoperative corneal biomechanical evaluation is of great significance in clinical monitoring and management since corneal transplantation is one of the main methods to improve visual function. In this paper, we propose an OCE system based on a small ultrasound transducer to realize the in vivo detection of postoperative corneal elasticity in different directions. It was first validated and analyzed by different agar, and then the elasticity changes in normal cornea and post-transplant corneal implants and implant beds were further investigated.

Collagen fibers are the main load-bearing component of soft tissues but difficult to incorporate into models. Whilst simplified homogenization models suffice for some applications, a thorough mechanistic understanding requires accurate prediction of fiber behavior, including both detailed fiber-level strains and long-distance transmission. Our goal was to compare the performance of a continuum model of the optic nerve head (ONH) built using conventional techniques with a fiber model we recently introduced which explicitly incorporates the complex 3D organization and interaction of collagen fiber bundles [1].

  • Retinoic acid (RA), a derivative of vitamin A, is linked to various biological functions but its effects on intestinal oxidative stress in stressed laying ducks had not been studied before this experiment.
  • A study involving 160 laying ducks tested different concentrations of RA over a 17-day period, finding that RA improved intestinal health by increasing villus height and antioxidant capacity while decreasing certain damaging markers.
  • Whole-transcriptome analysis revealed extensive changes in gene expression related to multiple signaling pathways and suggested that RA may help mitigate endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis, contributing to better redox homeostasis in the intestines.
