Article Synopsis
  • A study involving 920 patients with stable angina tested the efficacy of Danhong injection (DHI), a polypharmacological drug, over 14 days, finding that DHI significantly improved patient-reported angina frequency compared to a placebo.
  • There were no significant differences in major vascular events or serious side effects between the DHI and placebo groups, indicating DHI's safety in this population.
  • RNA sequencing identified a new therapeutic module related to blood coagulation and cholesterol metabolism as a potential target for DHI's effects, highlighting a connection between this module and positive changes in angina symptoms.

Aspergillus niger, a saprophytic fungus, is widely distributed in soil, air and cereals, and can cause postharvest diseases in fruit. Polygalacturonase (PG) is one of the main enzymes in fungal pathogens to degrade plant cell wall. To evaluate whether the deletion of an exo-polygalacturonase gene pgxB would influence fungal pathogenicity to fruit, pgxB gene was deleted in Aspergillus niger MA 70.

Background: High cost of imported pacemakers is a main obstacle for Chinese patients suffering from bradyarrhythmia, and a domestically developed pacemaker will help lower the burden. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Qinming8631 DR (Qinming Medical, Baoji, China), the first domestically developed dual-chamber pacemaker of China, compared with a commercially available pacemaker Talos DR (Biotronik, Berlin, Germany) in Chinese patients.

Methods: A prospective randomized trial was conducted at 14 centers in China.

Objective: To evaluate main Chinese medical syndrome elements and features of hypertriglyceridemia patients.

Methods: Using latent structure model (LSM) method, the latent structure diagram of 826 hypertriglyceridemia patients were established. Hypertriglyceridemia syndrome elements and features were interpreted by using latent probability, conditional probability, mutual information, and cumulative information coverage to quantify symptoms/syndromes data,as well as using manual interpretation methods.

Background: The authors found no study to compare the efficacy of bolus dose fentanyl and remifentanil blunting the cardiovascular intubation response in children, so they designed this randomized, double-blind clinical study to assess the effects of remifentanil 2 microg/kg and fentanyl 2 microg/kg by bolus injection on the cardiovascular intubation response in healthy children.

Methods: One hundred and two children, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status 1-2 and scheduled for elective plastic surgery under general anesthesia, were randomly divided into one of two groups to receive the following treatments in a double blind manner: remifentanil 2 microg/kg (Group R) and fentanyl 2 microg/kg (Group F) when anesthesia was induced with propofol and vecuronium. The orotracheal intubation was performed using a direct laryngoscope.

Purpose: Difficult airway is one of the main problems which attract much attention from the anesthesiologists, many clinical standards are used to predict the patient's airway, but the investigation of using radiological measurements to predict difficult intubation is seldom carried out. This study combined the previous researches to establish a system of using cephalometrics to predict difficult intubation.

Methods: Patients who underwent general anesthesia were involved with preoperative cephalometric examination.
