The multiple-demand (MD) system has proven to be associated with creating structured mental programs in comprehensive behaviors, but the functional mechanisms of this system have not been clarified in the musical domain. Although systemic inflammatory responses attributable to infection may lead to significant lung injury, the precise molecular mechanisms leading to lung damage are poorly understood and therapeutic options remain limited. Here, we show that myeloid monocyte chemotactic protein-inducible protein 1 (MCPIP1) plays a central role in protecting against LPS-induced inflammation and lung injury. Myeloid-specific MCPIP1 knockout mice developed spontaneous inflammatory syndromes, but at a late age compared to global MCPIP1 knockout mice.

Novel hybrid elastomer/regenerated chitin (R-chitin) composites were developed, for the first time, by introducing chitin solution (dissolved in alkaline/urea aqueous solution at low temperature) into rubber latex, and then cocoagulating using ethanol as the cocoagulant. During the rapid coprecipitation process, the chitin solution showed rapid coagulant-induced gelation and a porous chitin phase was generated, and the rubber latex particles were synchronously demulsificated to form the rubbery phase. The two phases interlaced and interpenetrated simultaneously to form an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) structure, which was evidenced by SEM observation.

A fibrous adsorbent with amino-terminated hyperbranch structure (PP-AM-HBP-NH) was prepared by grafting hyperbranched polyamine (HBP-NH) onto the acrylamide-modified polypropylene (PP) fibers. The grafting of AM on PP fibers provided the active sites for introducing HBP-NH onto the PP fibers. This kind of "grafting to" procedure to synthesize hyperbranch-structured fiber could overcome the disadvantages of stepwise growth procedure, avoiding the complicated synthesis process and the requirement of strict experimental conditions.

Although surgery remains the standard therapy for the treatment of bladder cancer (BCa), the data from previous clinical studies suggest that there is an increase in the number of patients with a preference for bladder preservation strategies, including radiotherapy, to improve their life quality. Our preliminary results showed that disabled homolog 2 interactive protein (DAB2IP), a putative tumor suppressor gene, is often downregulated in BCa with a radioresistant phenotype. Subsequent investigations revealed that elevated expression of ataxia‑telangiectasia mutated (ATM) induced by DAB2IP‑knockdown may be the key event in BCa cell resistance to ionizing radiation (IR).
