To address escalating environmental and sustainability concerns of petroleum-based superplasticizers (SPs), this work aims to develop sustainable and eco-friendly starch-based SPs using gamma radiation for maintaining the desired workability of geopolymeric pastes. Specifically, two green SPs were prepared from starch via radiation-induced grafting of two sulfonic group-bearing monomers, namely 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) and 4-styrene sulfonic acid sodium salt (Na4SS). The grafting reaction was improved by initial modification of starch with glycidyl methacrylate to insert vinyl groups into the starch backbone.

Purpose: To determine the feasibility of replacing the mid treatment cone beam computed tomography (MT CBCT) image with Intrafraction Imaging (IFI) acquired concurrently during dose delivery in lung Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiation therapy (SABR) patients, and thus improve treatment efficiency.

Methods And Materials: A review of departmental imaging data was performed on ten lung SABR patients treated with dual arc volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) on an Elekta Versa HD linear accelerator with XVI imaging software.IFI data was extracted and a database of the translational (T T T) and the rotational (R R R) position errors was created for retrospective comparison, with the values of the MT CBCT for the same patients, treated between March 2021 and March 2022 at our center.

Purpose: Multiple survey results have identified a demand for improved motion management for liver cancer IGRT. Until now, real-time IGRT for liver has been the domain of dedicated and expensive cancer radiotherapy systems. The purpose of this study was to clinically implement and characterise the performance of a novel real-time 6 degree-of-freedom (DoF) IGRT system, Kilovoltage Intrafraction Monitoring (KIM) for liver SABR patients.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious respiratory disease that leads to variable degrees of illness, and which may be fatal. We evaluated the diagnostic performance of each chest computed tomography (CT) reporting category recommended by the Expert Consensus of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in comparison with that of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). We aimed to add an analysis of this form of reporting in the Middle East, as few studies have been performed there.

Background: Thyroid nodules are an important health problem in children and adolescents. They possess a higher risk of malignancy in comparison to adults. This fact forms a great dilemma for clinicians.

Purpose: Thyroid diseases are common yet serious in children that lead to many metabolic and growth disorders; the most common among these are diffuse thyroid diseases (DTD). This study aimed to evaluate the reliability of shear wave elastography (SWE) to differentiate and diagnose DTD from normal thyroid tissue.

Method: This prospective study included normal participants and patients with DTD.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of multiple abdominal fat indices measured by ultrasound and anthropometric indices to predict the presence and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) assessed by coronary angiography.

Patients And Methods: All participants subjected to clinical and laboratory assessments. Anthropometric measurements were taken followed by an ultrasound examination to measure fat thickness at multiple abdominal areas.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of multiple abdominal fat indices as measured via ultrasonography for predicting the presence and severity of carotid artery atherosclerosis and to compare the predictive capacity of ultrasonographic measurements to that of anthropometric measurements.

Methods: A total of 92 patients were included in this study. All participants underwent clinical and laboratory assessments, and anthropometric measurements were obtained.

COVID-19 has shown a substantial variation in the rate and severity by which it impacts different demographic groups. Specifically, it has shown a predilection towards obese patients as well as well as other vulnerable groups including predilection of males over females, old age over young age and black races over Caucasian ones. Single cell sequencing studies have highlighted the role of cell polarity and the co-expression of proteases, such as Furin, along with ACE2 in the genesis of coronavirus disease rather than exclusively link tissue involvement with ACE2 levels thought previously.

Descending necrotizing mediastinitis [DNM] is a serious complication of odontogenic infections, being associated with a high mortality rate. The diagnosis, classification, and management depend on computed tomography [CT] findings. Incision, drainage, and debridement represent the principal management.

Chaff (the outermost protective layer of rice grain) in nano and ground sized particles was bio-assessed to explore its insecticidal effects against the greater wax moth, (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae). These particles induced remarkable disturbances in the biological patterns of the greater wax moth. These were cleared as they exhibited insecticidal impact on both juvenile and adult stages, their impacts on larval, pupal and adult death, the formation of morphogenetic features (permanent larvae and larval-pupal intermediates), their negative influence on the adult emergence and the potentialities of the applied concentrations to hinder the larval weight gain.

Veno-occlusive disease is an important pattern of hepatotoxicity associated with antineoplastic drugs. The study investigated the possible therapeutic effects of RHS nanoparticles combined with a PDGF on veno-occlusive disease (VOD) in liver elicited in rats with DAC. In this work, nanosilica (SiO) was successfully prepared from rice husk, and its physicochemical characteristics were investigated using EDX, XRD, N adsorption-desorption isotherm, SEM, and TEM.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of levodopa on apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value of the brain parenchyma in patients with idiopathic Parkinson disease (PD).

Material And Methods: Prospective study was conducted on native PD without treatment (n = 25) and patients receiving levodopa (L-Dopa) (n = 25). Diffusion magnetic resonance-weighted imaging was done using a single-shot spin echo type of echo planar imaging.
