Recommendations for use of extracorporeal shockwave therapy in sports medicine: an international modified Delphi study.

Objectives: While extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) may be an efficacious adjunctive treatment option for musculoskeletal injuries, current research is limited by significant heterogeneity within treatment protocols. This study aims to establish international expert consensus recommendations on ESWT terminology, parameters, procedural considerations, contraindications and side effects in the application of ESWT to sports injuries.

Methods: A systematic literature search was performed on the use of ESWT for musculoskeletal and sports medicine injuries to identify potential panellists, followed by the development of a steering committee-led questionnaire.

The use of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in treating osteonecrosis of the femoral head (AVNFH): a retrospective study.

Purpose: As most of the cases of avascular necrosis (AVN) in Saudi Arabia is seen in young population and as literature showed good effect of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in reducing pain and oedema in avascular necrosis and delaying the need of surgical intervention. Our purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of ESWT in reducing pain, improving range of motion (ROM) and delaying the surgical intervention in patient with AVN of femoral head and compare our results to published literature.

Material And Methods: We have treated 24 patients, 13 males and 11 females with a mean age of 29 years (range 14-48) with 34 hips affected.

Diagnosis and management of osteoporosis in Saudi Arabia: 2023 key updates from the Saudi Osteoporosis Society.

Unlabelled: The Saudi Osteoporosis Society (SOS) has updated its guidelines for the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis in Saudi Arabia (SA), with emphasis on postmenopausal women. This document is relevant to all healthcare professionals in SA involved in the care of patients with osteoporosis and osteoporosis-related fractures.

Introduction: The SOS launched the first national osteoporosis guidelines in 2015 and spearheaded the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (GCC) osteoporosis consensus report in 2020 which was under the auspices of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis (ESCEO).

Double-Level Pelvic Osteotomy for Managing Persistent Acetabular Dysplasia.

Pemberton's osteotomy has been recognized as a standard technique for the treatment of acetabular dysplasia. The aim of this article is to describe the surgical technique of a double-level pelvic osteotomy. To the authors' knowledge, this technique has never been reported.

Humeral lateral condyle fractures in children: redefining the criteria for displacement.

The aim of this study is to define paediatric lateral humeral condyle fractures prone to later displacement. The authors reviewed 106 children who were treated surgically for this fracture. There were 74 boys and 32 girls with an age range of 3-10 years.

Shock wave therapy of fracture nonunion.

We have used the principles of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in the treatment of nonunion of fractures in 44 patients (49 bones).There were 35 males and 9 females with a mean age of 34 years(range14-70). The "beggar's" hand and the "unshakable" hand in children with total obstetric brachial plexus palsy.

A total 12 consecutive children with secondary deformities following total obstetric brachial plexus palsy were included in this retrospective study. In all patients, the main complaints were two socially disabling hand postures: the "beggar's" hand and/or the "unshakable" hand. All children had a supinated forearm with no active pronation and were teased by their friends, who called them "beggars.
