CdTe is a potential material for making efficient and stable solar cells. The present study aimed to systematically investigate the electronic, optical, and thermoelectric properties of different structural phases of CdTe using density functional theory. The electronic properties were calculated using the modified Becke-Johnson potential with the local density approximation (LDA) correlation.

Article Synopsis
  • - Dissipative two-level systems (TLS) in glassy solids are important for understanding decoherence challenges in quantum computing, particularly affecting superconducting qubits due to resonant absorption.
  • - Recent research identifies hydrogen impurities in aluminum oxide (Al2O3) as a key source of TLS resonant absorption, with hydrogen forming bonds within the material's structure.
  • - The study combines theoretical calculations and experimental data to demonstrate that interstitial hydrogen contributes to resonant absorption in the GHz range and provides estimates of the coupling strength between qubits and TLS, aligning with experimental findings.
