Salinity-induced desertification is a pressing environmental issue that poses a significant threat to the sustainability of oasis ecosystems worldwide. These ecosystems are vital to the livelihoods of millions of people living in hyper-arid, arid and semi-arid regions, providing essential resources such as food, water and other necessities. However, overexploitation of natural resources, changes in land use and climate change have led to the degradation of these ecosystems, resulting in soil salinisation, waterlogging and other adverse effects.
