Management of urethral sounding related injuries continues to be a challenge due to the wide breath of objects implicated, the rarity of cases, and chance of significant complication. We present a particularly challenging and novel case where a patient inserted a round of live ammunition into his urethra. Non-surgical removal was limited over concern for accidental discharge of the round, and the patient was taken to the operating room where open removal was performed.

Our laboratory demonstrated that captopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, mitigates H-ARS in Göttingen minipigs, with improved survival and hematopoietic recovery, as well as the suppression of acute inflammation. However, the effects of captopril on the gastrointestinal (GI) system after TBI are not well known.

While the genetic basis of DS has been identified as a triplication of chromosome 21 (HSA21), the genes encoded from HSA21 that directly contribute to cognitive deficits remain incompletely understood. In this study, our aim was to determine factors associated with higher comfort levels for these catheter-care techniques and to assess whether online instructional videos could be used to improve nursing comfort.
Materials And Methods: Three 5-minute videos were created to demonstrate proper technique for coudé catheter placement, manual irrigation of a catheter, and management of CBI.

The RNA binding protein (RBP) T-cell Intracellular Antigen 1 (TIA1) is an important regulator of the innate immune response in the periphery, dampening cytotoxic inflammation and apoptosis during cellular stress, however, its role in neuroinflammation is unknown. We have recently shown that TIA1 regulates tau pathophysiology and toxicity in part through the binding of phospho-tau oligomers into pathological stress granules, and that haploinsufficiency of TIA1 in the P301S mouse model of tauopathy results in reduced accumulation of toxic tau oligomers, pathologic stress granules, and the development of downstream pathological features of tauopathy.

From various forms of cytotoxic T cells to small molecule inhibitors that revamp the tumor microenvironment, these therapies have demonstrated notable responses in cancer models and a resistant subset of cancer patients, used both alone and in combination. However, even current approaches, such as those targeting checkpoint molecules, tumor ligands, and involving gene-related therapies, present a challenge in non-responding patients.

Here, we report on a novel, null allele of Spata22 (Spata22 ) and confirm its requirement for germ cell development. Similar to repro42 mutant mice, histological and mating analyses indicate that gametogenesis is profoundly affected in Spata22 males and females, resulting in infertility.
