Graphene aerogels (GAs) with engineered architectures are a promising material for applications ranging from filtration to energy storage/conversion. However, current preparation approaches involve the combination of multiple intrinsically-different methodologies to achieve graphene-synthesis and architecture-engineering, complicating the entire procedure. Here, a novel approach to prepare GAs with engineered architectures based on the laser-upcycling of protein biowaste, hemoglobin, is introduced.

Under general anesthesia, neurological signs are often masked, delaying diagnosis and increasing the risk of sudden cardiovascular collapse. Therefore, early detection methods are critically needed.

The population of gingival fibroblasts is regulated by cell cycle machinery, which balances cell growth and inhibition. Cells that detect DNA damage pause at the G1/S checkpoint to repair the damage instead of progressing to the S phase.

REV7 expression in tumor cells is associated with clinical aggressive features and chemoresistance in several human malignancies, however, the clinicopathological significance of REV7 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) has not been studied yet. In this study, we investigated the significance of REV7 expression in LUAD using clinical materials and cell lines.

Therefore, this study examines the impact of femoral stem alignment on periprosthetic bone mineral density (BMD) in THA using the Avenir Complete cementless stem, focusing on the role of precise stem alignment in maintaining proximal femoral BMD.
Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients who received the Avenir Complete stem via mini anterolateral approach in the supine position between March 2019 and March 2022 were included.
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been implicated as critical mediators in the progression, chemoresistance and metastatic capabilities of diverse malignancies, including osteosarcoma (OS). The authors have succeeded in generating CSC‑like cells (MG‑OKS) from the OS cell line MG‑63 by transducing defined factors. A significant increase in small proline‑rich protein 1A (SPRR1A) expression, a cross‑linked envelope protein in keratinocytes, was observed in MG‑OKS cells.

However, the factors that hinder preventive healthcare service utilization have not been empirically investigated. This survey aimed to identify the relationship between health checkups, vaccination services, and social isolation among people on public assistance.

Background: The superior mesenteric vein appears as a fusion between irregularly-shaped slits of the midgut mesentery tissue at 5-6 weeks. In contrast, there might be no report when and how the inferior mesenteric vein (IMV) develops. We aimed to find the human initial IMV.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 150 consecutive patients who underwent BTHA (60 simultaneous and 90 staged BTHA). To adjust for preoperative patient characteristics between groups, 1:1 propensity score matching was performed based on age, sex, body mass index, American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status, Tönnis classification, Crowe classification, preoperative range of motion (flexion and abduction), LLD, and Harris Hip Score (HHS).
C-mannosylation is a unique type of glycosylation in which a mannose is added to tryptophan in a protein. However, the biological function of C-mannosylation is still largely unknown. AXL is a receptor tyrosine kinase, and its overexpression contributes to tumor malignancy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAmide hydrogenation is an important process for producing amines, with the development of efficient heterogeneous catalysts relying on the creation of bimetallic active sites where the two components interact synergistically. In this study, we develop a method for preparing catalysts using ligand-functionalized organometallic polyoxometalates by synthesizing a Rh-Mo organometallic polyoxometalate, [(RhCp)MoO] (Cp = C(CH)(COOCH)), with Rh-O-Mo interfacial structures and ethoxycarbonyl-functionalized ligands as a catalyst precursor. The activity of supported Rh-Mo catalysts for amide hydrogenation depend on the precursor used, with [(RhCp)MoO] showing the highest activity, followed by [(RhCp*)MoO] (Cp* = C(CH)), and then RhCl combined with (NH)[MoO]·4HO.

The effects of the gut microbiota on the enteric nervous system (ENS) in the adult intestine, however, remain poorly understood. In the current study, we investigated the effects of the gut microbiota on the ENS.

Unlabelled: The enteric nervous system (ENS) continues to be exposed to various disturbances throughout life, which causes apoptosis in the ENS. Therefore, it is assumed that neurogenesis is induced to maintain the neuronal network in the adult ENS. However, these underlying mechanisms are largely unknown.

Data-driven material research for property prediction and material design using machine learning methods requires a large quantity, wide variety, and high-quality materials data. For battery materials, which are commonly polycrystalline, ceramics, and composites, multiscale data on substances, materials, and batteries are required. In this work, we develop a data network composed of three interlinked databases, from which we can obtain comprehensive data on substances such as crystal structures and electronic structures, data on materials such as chemical composition, structure, and properties, and data on batteries such as battery composition, operation conditions, and capacity.

Reduced Mig6 expression is correlated with increased EGFR activity in multiple cancer models. Here, we investigated whether disease-associated point mutations could reduce the inhibitory potency of Mig6.

Gardenia blue (GB), a widely used plant-derived food color is prepared by reaction of genipin, the aglycone of geniposide, with protein hydrolysate. Recent animal studies investigating GB toxicity have indicated blue coloration in the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys and mesenteric lymph nodes in rodents following dietary administration. This study investigated the uptake and disposition of [C]GB in male and female rats and mice administered 100 or 1000 mg/kg by gavage.
