Numerous efforts have been directed toward promoting nutrition in Arab countries. Implementing national nutrition plans and strategies is essential for addressing a country's nutritional situation synergistically and cost-effectively. Many Arabic-speaking countries have developed national nutrition plans and/or strategies.

Response of the consumers to the menu calorie-labeling on online food ordering applications in Saudi Arabia.

Background: The use of online food ordering applications is widespread; however, to date, there have been no studies on the effect of the menu calorie labeling in online food ordering applications on the consumers' dietary habits and food choices in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the response of the consumers to the menu energy-labeling on online food ordering applications in Saudi Arabia by exploring: (a) the consumers' preference and frequency of ordering from online food applications; (b) the consumers' self-reported knowledge, awareness, and interest towards menu calorie information on online food ordering applications; (c) the impact of menu calorie information on online food ordering applications on consumers' food choices.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted between October and November of 2022.

Development and validation of a simple method for the determination of triamcinolone acetonide in nasal spray.

A rapid, convenient, and sensitive analytical technique for quantitative analysis of triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) in pharmaceutical nasal spray dosage form using the blue tetrazolium colorimetric reaction and UV spectrophotometric method was developed and validated. Beer's law of the developed method was proven in the concentration range of 10-40 µg/mL and showed a specific linear relationship with coefficient value R2 = 0.998.

The relation between dietary zinc and immune status in saudi adults.

Although there is an increased interest in zinc intake and its role in boosting immunity, to our knowledge, no studies have investigated the relationship between dietary zinc intake and immunity in Saudi adults. This cross-sectional study aimed to measure the extent to which the dietary zinc impacted the immune health of 252 Saudi adults aged 18 years and above. Immune health was assessed using the Immune Status Questionnaire (ISQ), and dietary zinc intake was estimated using an adapted zinc-specific version of the Saudi Food Frequency Questionnaire (SFFQ).

Genetic Variants of HOTAIR Associated with Colorectal Cancer: A Case-Control Study in the Saudi Population.

Genetic polymorphism in long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) HOTAIR is linked with the risk and susceptibility of various cancers in humans. The mechanism involved in the development of CRC is not fully understood but single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) can be used to predict its risk and prognosis. In the present case-control study, we investigated the relationship between HOTAIR (rs12826786, rs920778, and rs1899663) polymorphisms and CRC risk in the Saudi population by genotyping using a TaqMan genotyping assay in 144 CRC cases and 144 age- and sex-matched controls.

The Independent and Combined Effects of Omega-3 and Vitamin B12 in Ameliorating Propionic Acid Induced Biochemical Features in Juvenile Rats as Rodent Model of Autism.

Metabolites of proper fatty acids modulate the inflammatory response and are essential for normal brain development; equally, abnormal fatty acid metabolism plays a critical role in the pathology of autism. Currently, dietary supplements are often used to improve the core symptoms of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The present study analyzed the effects of orally supplemented omega-3 (ω-3) and vitamin B12 on ameliorating oxidative stress and impaired lipid metabolism in a propionic acid (PPA)-induced rodent model of autism, together with their effect on the gut microbial composition, where great fluctuations in the bacterial number and strains were observed; interestingly, polyunsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3 induced higher growth of the gram-positive bacterium Staphylococcus aureus and decreased the survival rates of Clostridia sp.

Urinary biomarkers reporting weakness and validation failure in Type 2 diabetic nephropathy: systematic review.

For better identification of novel diagnostic urinary biomarker in Type 2 diabetic nephropathy (T2DN), methodological and reporting quality is as important as validity of biomarkers. The aim of this systematic review is to find out the best-reported diagnostic urinary biomarkers study in T2DN based on STARD criteria. We also analyzed the validity of urinary markers in the selected articles those followed STARD criteria.
