•We report a case of a patient with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) presenting as myeloid sarcoma.•This patient with bilateral adnexal masses was managed via total robotic hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.•There are a limited number of reports of bilateral ovarian occurrences that exist in the literature.

Indeed, we still debate whether tremor and slow slip are generated by the same process operating at different scales or by two distinct processes. Here we investigate tremor scaling near Parkfield, California; we examine how rupture duration scales with moment.

While literature alludes to the role that routines and rituals play in self-injection, there is no comprehensive study on the routines and rituals self-injectors employ, nor of the process by which they are discovered and ingrained.
Methods: We conducted a mixed-method, observational pilot ethnography study of 27 patients with plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis with and without prior biologic self-injection experience.
Increased cancer prevalence and survival rates coupled with earlier patient discharges from hospitals have created a greater need for social support. Cancer care is both short term and long term, requiring acute treatments, treatments for remission, and long-term screenings and treatment regimens. Health care systems are already overwhelmed and often struggle to provide social support systems for everyone.

Donation of organs from donors with acute aortic syndrome has been scarcely reported. Several concerns exist related to ischemic insults before retrieval from malperfusion, systemic inflammatory state in dissection, and involvement of donor organ vessels that may preclude the ability of surgeons to perform successful anastomosis of healthy vessels.

A lack of specific guidance on best practices may lead to inadequate biologic initiation and training. We previously conducted a small-sample, qualitative analysis designed to identify gaps in self-injection training.

But the relationship between gradable uses and straightforward predications of the form 'x is justified' has been underexplored by epistemologists. In this paper we undertake to do some ground clearing as a prelude to better understanding this relationship.

Advances in induction systemic therapy regimens, surgical technique, and perioperative care have led to successful resection of an increasing number of these tumors with reasonable perioperative outcomes and disease-free intervals. Certain anatomic characteristics that meet criteria for locally-advanced disease, however, are more likely to result in a successful surgical outcome.

Despite labeling requirement for healthcare provider (HCP) training, current injection initiation experiences have been shown to be suboptimal. This study characterizes gaps in training and support during initiation and identifies rationales to inform solutions.

Previous work has shown that the mucus of the brown garden snail () has antimicrobial properties, in particular against type culture collection strains of . We hypothesised that it would also be effective against clinical isolates of the bacterium and that investigation of fractions of the mucus would identify one or more proteins with anti-pseudomonal properties, which could be further characterised.

We present a randomized, double-blinded placebo-controlled trial of preoperative loading with high-dose cholecalciferol (300 000 IU) to reduce post-thyroidectomy hypocalcaemia.
Patients And Measurements: Patients (n = 160) presenting for thyroidectomy at tertiary hospitals were randomized 1:1 to cholecalciferol (300 000 IU) or placebo 7 days prior to thyroidectomy.
To determine factors associated with advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) performance in the pre-pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum and establish whether performance on the multiple mini interview (MMI) independently predicts APPE evaluation scores. A multi-case MMI has been used in the admissions process since 2008. Students are scored anywhere from 1 to 7 (unsatisfactory to outstanding) on each interview.

Question/purpose: The aim of this study was to determine which type of sling-one with a small or large abduction pillow or one without a pillow-places the repaired rotator cuff in the best position to reduce tension on the supraspinatus.
Methods: An X-ray study was performed on asymptomatic subjects to determine what position the shoulder is placed in when wearing a sling with or without an abduction pillow.

Although the use of the pesticide 2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)-1,1,1-trichloroethane (DDT) was banned from the mid-1970s, its most abundant and recalcitrant degradation product, 2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)-1,1-dichloro-ethylene (DDE), is still present in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems worldwide. Zucchini (Cucurbita pepo ssp. pepo) has been shown to accumulate high concentrations of DDE and was proposed for phytoremediation of contaminated soils.

The Bcr/CflA efflux system has previously been identified as important for development of P. mirabilis crystalline biofilms, highlighting the potential for efflux pump inhibitors (EPIs) to control catheter blockage.

To evaluate CuO trophic transfer, leaves were fed to crickets (Acheta domestica) for 15 d, followed by insect feeding to lizards (Anolis carolinensis). Upon weathering, the root Cu content of the NP treatment increased 214% (327 ± 59.

Advanced imaging technologies have fostered the development of kinetic analyses in cells. We have developed Permeabilization Activated Reduction in Fluorescence (PARF) analysis for determination of apparent t1/2 and immobile fraction, describing the dissociation of a protein of interest from intracellular structures.

MYO19 copurifies with mitochondria, and can be released from mitochondrial membranes by high pH buffer, suggesting that positively-charged residues participate in interactions between MYO19 and mitochondria. The MYO19-specific mitochondria outer membrane association (MyMOMA) domain contains approximately 150 amino acids with a pI approximately 9 and is sufficient for localization to the mitochondrial outer membrane.

Objective: Extrapyramidal reactions (EPRs) associated with serotonergic antidepressant treatments have been reported since 1958. These reactions can be distressing for patients and complicate treatment. Our objective was to complete a follow-up review of published EPR cases reported for serotonergic antidepressants.
