Primary aneurysmal bone cyst of the distal tibial epiphysis: a case report.

Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a benign lesion that commonly involves the metaphysis or metadiaphyseal region of long bones in children. The WHO defined ABC as an expansile osteolytic lesion consisting of blood-filled spaces and channels that are divided by connective tissue septa that may contain osteoid tissue and osteoclast-like giant cells. ABCs are usually treated with intralesional procedures, and variables including surgeon technique, young patient, juxtaphyseal tumors, and tumor location have been associated with recurrence.

Cotyledonoid leiomyoma of uterus: a case report.

The diagnosis of uterine smooth muscle tumors is usually not difficult. Occasionally, benign tumors with an unusual growth pattern may cause some diagnostic confusion for pathologists who had not experienced such a tumor before. A fifty-one year old female patient had admitted to our gynecology outpatient clinics with abnormal uterine bleeding (menorrhagia) and undergone a surgery with a diagnosis of pelvic mass.

Neurocytoma arising in an adrenal gland mature teratoma.

Mature teratoma of adrenal gland is a rare entity. Neurocytoma is a low grade neuronal tumor even rarely seen among central nervous system tumors. Nervous system tumors arising in teratomas are frequently originated from glial or primitive neuroectodermal cells.

Prognostic importance of Claudin-1 and Claudin-4 expression in colon carcinomas.

In this study, we analyzed Claudin-1 and Claudin-4 expressions in colon carcinomas. We investigated the relationship between the expression of these tight junction proteins and clinicopathologic parameters. Claudin-1 and 4 expressions were determined by immunohistochemical methods, and the rate of cells expressing these tight junction proteins were calculated with stereologic methods.

A rare neoplasm of the testis: capillary hemangioma.

Intratesticular vascular neoplasms are extremely rare tumors and mostly seen in children or young adults. We reported a case of capillary hemangioma of the testis to attract attention to testicular hemangioma and also to prevent invasive surgery of the testis. The patient was an 18-year-old boy with a testicular mass.

Correlation of E-cadherin expression with clinicopathological parameters in breast carcinoma.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between the E-cadherin (E-CD) expression and clinicopathological parameters including tumor grade, patient age, tumor size, necrosis, peritumoral lymphovascular invasion and lymph node status in breast carcinomas.

Methods: The specimens were surgically obtained from 51 female patients with breast carcinoma between 1997 and 2001 in Karadeniz Technical University Medicine Faculty Farabi Hospital, Trabzon, Turkey. Histologic grading was according to the Bloom and Richardson methods.

Multiple dose-activated charcoal as a cause of acute appendicitis.

We presented a case of a 55-year-old woman who intentionally ingested an unknown amount of carbosulfan, a carbamate insecticide. On admission, her clinical findings were coma, pinpoint pupils, hypersalivation, respiratory failure, bradycardia, and hypotension. Hertrachea was intubated after suction of secretions, and atropine was administered intravenously.
