Association between electrodiagnosis and neuromuscular ultrasound in the diagnosis and assessment of severity of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Background: Neuromuscular ultrasound plays an increasing role in diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). There are limited data supporting the correlation between the electrodiagnostic studies and ultrasound measurements in CTS.

Objective: To assess the association between different electrodiagnostic severities and ultrasound measurements of the median nerve in CTS.

Training is not enough: child and adolescent psychiatry clinicians' impressions of telepsychiatry during the first COVID-19 related lockdown.

To ensure the continuity of care during the COVID-19 pandemic, clinicians in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) were forced to immediately adapt in-person treatment into remote treatment. This study aimed to examine the effects of pre-COVID-19 training in- and use of telepsychiatry on CAP clinicians' impressions of telepsychiatry during the first two weeks of the Dutch COVID-19 related lockdown, providing a first insight into the preparations necessary for the implementation and provision of telepsychiatry during emergency situations. All clinicians employed by five specialized CAP centres across the Netherlands were invited to fill in a questionnaire that was specifically developed to study CAP clinicians' impressions of telepsychiatry during the COVID-19 pandemic.

First-Session Therapeutic Relationship and Outcome in High Risk Adolescents Intensive Group Psychotherapeutic Programme.

Background: An important determinant of therapy outcome is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. This study evaluated the association between the client's assessment of first-session therapeutic relationship (FSTR) and outcome in an intensive treatment for adolescents with personality disorders.

Method: Patients (N = 92) were measured weekly during intensive group treatment.

Cognitive emotion regulation strategies in relation to treatment outcome in a clinical sample of adolescents with personality disorders.

The aim of this study was to examine cognitive emotion regulation strategies (CERS) of help-seeking adolescents diagnosed with personality disorders. At pre-treatment, patients (N = 116) were found to use some maladaptive but also some adaptive CERS more often than adolescents from the general population. Less than 4% of these pre-treatment CERS predicted treatment outcome.

This study aimed to evaluate the association between the therapeutic relationship and dropouts in an intensive mentalization-based treatment (MBT) for adolescents with personality disorders.

Therapeutic factors that promote recovery in high-risk adolescents intensive group psychotherapeutic MBT programme.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate whether therapeutic factors as identified by Yalom and potential additional therapeutic factors could be found in the qualitative individual reports of high-risk adolescents with personality disorders at the end of an intensive group psychotherapeutic MBT programme and whether the therapeutic factors were related to therapy outcomes.

Methods: At the end of treatment, 70 adolescents were asked to write a farewell letter. Content analysis of the letters was performed by two independent raters, using the 12 therapeutic factors of Yalom and potential additional therapeutic factors as coding categories.

Adolescent attachment insecurity and the influence of MBT.

The aim of this study in a high-risk adolescent sample with personality disorders receiving intensive mentalisation-based treatment (MBT), was first, to examine deviations in insecure attachment distribution of the normative pattern, and in borderline personality disorder and other personality disorders; second, to explore whether MBT alters attachment representations and whether these alterations are related to changes in psychological distress. A total of 60 adolescents were investigated pre-treatment for both categorical and continuous measures of the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI). Pre- and post-AAI ( = 33) data were compared with psychological distress measured by the Symptom Checklist-90.

Tissue engineering (TE) of cartilage for reconstructive surgery has proven to be a promising option for obtaining tissue for 3D structures that results in minimal donor site morbidity. Technological advances in this area are important since many defects can only be treated with customized implants. Most TE strategies rely on the use of resorbable 3D scaffolds to guide the growing tissue, with each tissue requiring a specific scaffold that has precisely defined properties depending on the physiological environment.

Binding properties of the cerebral alpha4beta2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor ligand 2-[18F]fluoro-A-85380 to plasma proteins.

Introduction: To determine the availability of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in different human brain regions using the positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand 2-[18F]fluoro-A-85380 (2-[18F]FA) and invasive approaches for quantification, it is important to correct the arterial input function as well for plasma protein binding (PPB) of the radioligand as for radiolabeled metabolites accumulating in blood. This study deals with some aspects of PPB of 2-[18F]FA.

Methods: Patients with different neurological disorders (n=72), such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis, and a group of healthy volunteers (n=15) subjected for PET imaging were analyzed for their PPB level of 2-[18F]FA using ultrafiltration.

Encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis: a case with unilateral odontomas and review of the literature.

Unlabelled: We report a 7-year-old boy with the typical features of encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis (ECCL) including unilateral skin, eye, bone, and asymptomatic central nervous system involvement. The presenting sign were numerous ipsilateral odontomas which have been described in only two previous patients so far. We reviewed all 32 cases reported to date and focus on the dermatological hallmark of the condition, namely a fatty tissue naevus of the scalp for which the term naevus psiloliparus was recently coined.

Lichen striatus: clinical features and follow-up in 12 patients.

Lichen striatus (LS) is an uncommon disease of unknown origin characterised by a linear inflammatory papular eruption with spontaneous regression. We here review a series of 12 consecutive cases of LS. Diagnosis was supported by histological examination.

p53 protein in endometrial cancer is related to proliferative activity and prognosis but not to expression of p21 protein.

Expression of the tumor suppressor gene product p53 and the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p21, which is transcriptionally activated by p53, was investigated and compared with patient survival in a retrospective longitudinal study of 202 cases of endometrial carcinoma.
