A maxillary location of extra-nodal Rosai Dorfman disease: a case report.

Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a rare benign histiocytic proliferation, characterized by a group of clinical symptoms. This report presents a case of extranodal RDD manifesting as a progressively enlarging left maxillary mass in a 42-year-old woman. Surgical exploration and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of RDD, with characteristic histopathological features including emperipolesis.

Anterior dislocation of the coronoid process above a ZMC fracture: case report and a technical note.

Zygomaticomaxillary complex fractures are very common in maxillofacial trauma and may be associated with fractures of the coronoid process. We report a case of dislocation of the coronoid process above a zygomaticomaxillary complex fracture locking the mandible. We also report the surgical management of this uncommon case and its follow-up.

Maxillary and mandibular odontogenic myxomas: case report.

Maxillary myxomas are rare benign odontogenic tumors with a high potential for infiltration and destruction. Clinical and radiological manifestations are variable and non-specific and often lead to confusion with other benign and malignant lesions. We present here two cases of odontogenic myxoma of different localization (maxilla and mandible).

Mandibular nerve schwannoma: a case report.

Benign schwannomas are uncommon and their intraosseous location is even rarer counting for less than 1% of all benign primary bone tumors. They exceptionally occur in the oral cavity with the tongue being the most common site of involvement. We report here a case of intramandibular schwannoma derived from the inferior alveolar nerve, in a 57-year-old patient with a 3 months history of inferior left lip paresthesia.

The role of humanitarian missions in surgical training for maxillofacial surgery residents: SOS Face Marrakesh experience.

Resident´s participation in humanitarian work has been controversial, while it´s recognized by some authors to bring significant value to the resident´s education. Herein, we aim to provide an evidence of the role of humanitarian missions in the surgical training as part of residency program, through report of a 10 years experience of SOS FACE Marrakesh, a non-benefit association within maxillofacial surgery department of Marrakesh. Its operating mode is to organize humanitarian missions coupled to targeted surgical training program, which is framed by educational objectives using a pedagogic portfolio.

Oral amelanotic malignant melanoma: a case report.

Amelanotic malignant melanoma is an extremely rare and aggressive oral tumor. Herein we report the case of a 42-year-old woman presented with a painful growth in anterior maxillary region. Intra-oral examination showed a non-pigmented exophytic mass occupying the anterior maxillary sector.

Natal teeth: report of two cases.

Presence of teeth at birth or within a month post-delivery is a rare condition. We report here 2 cases to highlight their clinical features and discuss their possible treatment. A 7- days old female newborn with two mandibular central incisors, noticed by the parents at birth, with complaint of continuous crying, inability to suck milk and causing discomfort to the mother.

Odontogenic cervico-facial cellulitis during pregnancy: about 3 cases.

Pregnancy is considered as a risk factor for development, severity, and complications of odontogenic infections. Without adequate treatment, the infection can spread and threaten both the mother's and the foetus lives. We aim to analyze the predisposing factors, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of cervico-facial cellulitis during pregnancy, through a descriptive retrospective study conducted at oral and maxillofacial surgery department of Mohamed VI university hospital center at Marrakesh, between June 2017 and June 2019.

Simultaneous Occurrence of a Pituitary Adenoma and a Foramen Magnum Meningioma: Case Report.

The coexistence of a pituitary adenoma and a meningioma is a rare event. In all previously reported cases, only 1 of these 2 tumors was symptomatic. We present the case of 61-year-old woman with no significant medical history who was treated for a simultaneously symptomatic pituitary nonfunctioning adenoma and foramen magnum meningioma.

Osteolytic clear cell meningioma of the petrous bone occurring 36 years after posterior cranial fossa irradiation: Case report.

Objective And Importance: While bone invasion and hyperostosis are frequent phenomena in meningiomas, primary intraosseous meningiomas are rare and their occurrence in the skull base is an extraordinary exception. Moreover, radiation-induced meningiomas represent a unique clinical dilemma given the fact that patients with these tumors had often received a prior full course of radiotherapy.

Epidural Venous Angioma Presenting with Spinal Cord Compression in a 42-Year-Old Woman with Previous History of Ovarian Malignancy.

Background: Venous angioma is an extremely rare vascular malformation of the epidural space. To the best of our knowledge, only 5 cases have been documented to date and none has been reported in the setting of a previous malignancy.

Case Description: We report the case of a 42-year-old woman with a previous history of ovarian cancer, treated by surgery plus chemotherapy; who presented with signs of spinal cord compression for 3 weeks.

Plagiocephaly due to Frontosphenoidal Suture Synostosis: Report of 2 Cases and Literature Review.

Background/aims: The most common cause of anterior plagiocephaly is the fusion of the unilateral coronal suture. In some rare cases, however, the fusion of the frontosphenoidal suture may lead to a resembling pattern with specific clinical and radiological features. The aim of the present study is to further enlighten this entity as it is misdiagnosed most of the time.

Intraventricular Glioblastomas.

Background And Importance: Although glioblastoma is the most common primary brain tumor, primary intraventricular locations are extremely rare; only 21 cases have been reported to date.

Methods: A retrospectively acquired database of all intracranial glioblastomas treated in 2 different neurosurgical departments during the last 10 years was queried. Patients with histologically proven intraventricular glioblastomas were included in the study.

Metastatic sacrococcygeal yolk sac tumor: A misleading diagnosis.

Sacrococcygeal yolk sac tumor (YST) is an extremely rare malignant extra-gonadal germ-cell tumor, which usually succeeds to the degeneration of more common benign teratoma. We describe here an unprecedented case of conus medullaris compression by a spinal metastasis from a pure sacrococcygeal YST in a 1½ years old girl, which was misdiagnosed initially as an anal fissure and stress the need of a meticulous clinical examination and further screening in young patients presenting with sphincter disturbances.

Effect of fresh and mature organic amendments on the phytoremediation of technosols contaminated with high concentrations of trace elements.

Organic compounds resulting from the decomposition of organic amendments are used in the remediation of trace element (TE) contaminated soils. The mobility, phytoavailability and soil exposure intensity of molybdenum (Mo), chromium (Cr), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), Cobalt (Co) and Arsenic (As) were evaluated in the phytoremediation of contaminated technosols after the addition of two organic matter types, fresh ramial chipped wood (RCW) and composted sewage sludge (CSS). The experiment consisted of nine main treatment blocks: (A) 3X unamended soil (NE), (B) 3X soil amended with RCW and (C) 3X soil amended with mature CSS.

Congenital Glioblastoma: Lessons Learned from a Rare Case with Unusual Presentation.

Congenital glioblastomas are uncommon tumors of infancy with unique molecular features and usually better prognosis compared to their pediatric and adult counterparts. A 15-day old newborn harboring a congenital glioblastoma undiagnosed at pregnancy presented to our emergencies with rapid neurological deterioration. Radiological investigations revealed an 8 by 9 cm space occupying and enhancing lesion in the left temporoparietooccipital region with intratumoral hemorrhage.

Primary pure and nonsecreting embryonal carcinoma of the anterior third ventricle: a case report.

Central nervous system germ cell tumors (GCTs) account for less than 5% of primary brain tumors in children and adolescents but continue to attract much attention. To the best of our knowledge, a primary pure and nonsecreting embryonal carcinoma of the anterior third ventricle has never been previously reported. A 15-year-old boy presented with signs of increased intracranial pressure for the past 2 weeks complicated by 2 episodes of generalized tonic-clonic seizures 1 day before admission.

Uncommon progression of an extradural spinal meningioma.

Extradural spinal meningiomas are rare. Our understanding of purely extradural spinal meningiomas is still incomplete and they may be easily confused with malignant neoplasms, much more common in this location. We report a rare case of a purely extradural thoracic spine meningioma in a 70-year-old man, with an unusual progression.

Effect of organic amendments on the mobility of trace elements in phytoremediated techno-soils: role of the humic substances.

The efficiency of aided phytostabilization using organic amendments such as ramial chipped wood (RCW) and composted sewage sludge (CSS) was studied on contaminated techno-soils, on nine experimental plots. The objective was to characterize the role of fulvic (FA) and humic acids (HA) on the mobilization of trace elements, specifically As, Cu, Mo, Pb and Zn. Results showed that the addition of CSS increased the total organic carbon and nitrogen content more than with RCW and as a result, the C/N ratio in the CSS soil was higher than in the RCW and non-amended (NE) soil, reflecting the high decomposition of soil organic matter in the CSS soil compared with the other soils.

Dural metastasis of Ewing's sarcoma.

Background: Metastatic Ewing's sarcoma to the central nervous system is an uncommon condition and debate concerning the true origin of its metastases is still up to date. To the best of our knowledge, only two cases of dural metastatic Ewing's sarcoma have been published in the English medical literature. We present an additional case in a 24-year-old female and discuss the pathogenesis of these unusual tumors with review of the relevant literature concerning their treatment and outcome.
