Background: Pregnancy is a crucial period for maternal and fetal health, and in Lebanon, where cultural and economic factors influence dietary practices, there is an urgent need to evaluate the food consumption patterns and diet quality of pregnant women.
Aim: To evaluate the food consumption patterns, energy intake, as well as macro- and micro-nutrient intake among a nationally representative sample of Lebanese pregnant women aged 18-49 years old.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out from March to October 2023, involving 500 pregnant women from all eight Lebanese governorates.
Background: The capsular ligaments at the hip joint work in synchrony with the acetabulum and femoral head for articular stability. There is a lack of understanding about ischiofemoral ligament (ISFL) anatomy and function.
Purpose: To assess the insertion of the ISFL in non-arthritic adult hips.
Background: T helper interplay and cytokines monitoring in auto-immune skin disorders such as Pemphigus Foliaceus [PF] may play a central role in predicting the clinical stratification of the pathology.
Objectives: In order to assess the CD4+ T cell imbalance, [i] this study aims to assess the related immune cells [Th1, Th2, Th17, and Treg cells] as well as the related cytokines [IL-1β, IFNγ, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12p70, IL-17A, IL-17F, IL- 22, TNF-β, and TNFα] in peripheral blood, and [ii] their respective transcription factors in the lesioned skin of PF endemic patients during the clinical course.
Methods: Peripheral blood of 22 PF patients was analyzed by flow cytometry to assess the functional associations of Th cell subpopulations and their characteristic cytokines by multiplex bead assay of 14-plex cytokines.

Partial resection of the lesser trochanter (LT plasty) has been increasingly recommended to treat ischiofemoral impingement. However, there is a lack of studies on the imaging findings following LT plasty. The purpose of this study was to assess magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) changes on the lesser trochanter and surrounding musculotendinous structures following LT plasty to treat ischiofemoral impingement.

Methods: This is a longitudinal observational study at our tertiary vascular centre from 2002 to 2021.
Background: Despite the efforts of the health system to improve access to medications during the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, such as online consultations, encouraging generic prescriptions, and other measures to limit the storage of medication, psychotropic patients faced significant challenges in accessing their medications.
Objectives: This study aimed (1) to compare the consumption of psychotropics before and during the pandemic, (2) to assess the association between having difficulties finding the medications and the general characteristics of the patients, and (3) to assess the predictors of these difficulties.
Design: A case-control study was performed in which 128 patients (cases) were recruited during the pandemic (July-October 2021), and 256 patients (controls) using psychotropics before the pandemic were matched for age and sex.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy of electronic hip pain drawing to diagnose intra-articular source of pain in nonarthritic hips, defined by response to an intra-articular injection.
Methods: A retrospective assessment was performed in consecutive patients who had an intra-articular injection completed within a 1-year period. Patients were classified as responders or nonresponders to intra-articular hip injection.
Background: Controversies remain regarding the diagnosis, imaging, and treatment of acute adductor injuries in athletes.
Purpose: To investigate the diagnostic imaging, treatment, and prevention of acute adductor injuries based on the most recent and relevant scientific evidence.
Study Design: Systematic review; Level of evidence, 4.
The association between hip and spine abnormalities is frequent, and limitation in hip extension has been linked with low back pain. The purpose of this study was to assess the radiographic osseous findings in nonarthritic hips of patients with hip pain, low back pain, and limited hip extension. Ninety patients (92 hips) were included in this study.

The images are visually examined by an experienced radiologist, and if one hemidiaphragm ascends while the other descends, then it is described as paradoxical motion, which is highly suggestive of hemidiaphragm paralysis. However, diagnosis can be challenging because diaphragm motion during sniffing is fast, paradoxical motion can be subtle, and the analysis is based on a 2-dimensional projection of a 3-dimensional surface.

We, therefore, assessed whether Plate Objective Scoring Tool measurements were correlated with degree of ventral curvature in affected children.
Methods: Patients undergoing distal hypospadias repair were enrolled into the study between January 2018 and December 2020 and were categorized independently by at least two surgeons using Plate Objective Scoring Tool.

One of the most critical steps in medical health is the proper diagnosis of the disease. Dermatology is one of the most volatile and challenging fields in terms of diagnosis. Dermatologists often require further testing, review of the patient's history, and other data to ensure a proper diagnosis.

Purpose: To investigate the outcomes of surgery for CGP in athletes based on surgical technique and anatomic area addressed.

Extra-articular impingement between the femur and ischium is increasingly recognized as a cause of hip pain. The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic parameters for greater trochanteric-ischial impingement (GTI) in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies. Seven patients (seven hips) diagnosed with GTI were retrospectively identified.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe term 'hip-spine syndrome' was introduced in recognition of the frequent occurrence of concomitant symptoms at the hip and lumbar spine. Limitations in hip range of motion can result in abnormal lumbopelvic mechanics. Ischiofemoral impingement, femoroacetabular impingement and abnormal femoral torsion are increasingly linked to abnormal hip and spinopelvic biomechanics.

This study compared the IFS measured in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed in distinct health services for the same patient. Sixty-five patients (95 hips) who had hip MRI performed at an outside institution (noncontrolled MRI) followed by a hip MRI with lower extremity positioning reproducing the standing position (controlled MRI) were studied.

This study reviews existing interventions based on patient empowerment and their effectiveness in controlling diabetes in sub-Saharan Africa.

Methods: The records of patients with LTI who underwent endoscopic partial resection of the lesser trochanter (LT) between May of 2017 and February of 2019 were reviewed. Inclusion criteria were the presence of low back pain in association with hip pain, diagnosis of LTI, and partial resection of the LT to treat LTI.
Background: The stabilization of the femoral head is provided by the distal acetabulum when the hip is in a flexed position. However, the osseous parameters for the diagnosis of hip instability in flexion are not defined.
Purpose/hypothesis: To determine whether the osseous parameters of the distal acetabulum are different in hips demonstrating anteroinferior subluxation in flexion under dynamic arthroscopic examination, compared with individuals without hip symptoms.
Background: The orientation of the acetabulum has a fundamental role in impingement and instability of the hip, and the spinopelvic parameters are thought to predict the sagittal orientation of the acetabulum (SOA). However, similar to the acetabular version (axial orientation) and inclination (coronal orientation), the cephalic or caudal orientation of the acetabulum in the sagittal plane, or SOA, may primarily be an intrinsic feature of the acetabulum itself.
Purpose: To determine whether the spinopelvic parameters predict the sagittal orientation of the acetabulum in individuals without lumbar deformity.
The treatment of hip and pelvic pain associated with abnormalities of the deep gluteal space has evolved and increasingly involves endoscopic techniques with a saline expansion medium. This investigation presents a surgical technique utilizing carbon dioxide as the insufflation medium for deep gluteal space endoscopy in 17 cadaveric hips. This technique was successful in 94% (16/17) of the hips, allowing for visualization of the sciatic nerve, posterior femoral cutaneous nerve, pudendal nerve, branch of the inferior gluteal artery crossing the sciatic nerve, piriformis muscle, hamstring tendon origin, and lesser trochanter.
