Background: An epilepsy-related attendance at A&E is associated an increased risk of subsequent death within 6 months. Although further work is required to provide a definitive explanation to account for these findings, in the interim it would seem reasonable that services are designed to ensure timely access and provide support at a time of greatest risk. We aim to determine the frequency of patients accessing specialist neurology services following an epilepsy-related admission/unscheduled care episode and consider ASM adherence at the point of attendance.

Methods: Between June 2019-June 2020, pregnant WWE within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde health-board were identified from the National Obstetric Register. A manual review of electronic patient records was undertaken to ensure diagnostic accuracy, as well as determine contact with epilepsy services and documented seizures.

Serum-free, protein-free and chemically-defined specialty media were produced in granulated format and compared with identical formulations manufactured by conventional methods. HPLC analysis of multiple lots of granulated materials demonstrated that biochemical constituents were precisely and homogeneously distributed throughout the granules and that nutrient levels were comparable to conventional formats.

Methods: We established a central and peripatetic nurse-led service utilising semi-structured history taking, spirometry, oxygen saturation monitoring and semi-structured reporting, coupled with the provision of educational materials to both primary care physicians and patients.
Results: Phased access to the service was offered to 32 general practices.
