Data demonstrated the role of natural killer (NK) cells in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We aimed to determine the immunophenotype and frequency of NK cells and their subsets, CXCR3, CD161 expression in blood and renal tissue of SLE patients with and without lupus nephritis and their relationship with disease activity. The study included 31 SLE patients and 11 controls.

Methods: Patients were randomized to receive ultrasound-guided selected nerve root block as a diagnostic tool (study group) or not (control group), but both groups had surgery. Pain evaluation for arm and neck pain was recorded.

Effect of pulsed radiofrequency to the suprascapular nerve (SSN) in treating frozen shoulder pain: A randomised controlled trial.

Background: Treatment for frozen shoulder (FS) focuses on pain control and restoring movement and strength through physical therapy. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) lesioning of the suprascapular nerve for the treatment of FS pain.

Methods: Forty patients with FS were enrolled and randomly assigned into the intervention group (n = 20) that received PRF and a control group (n = 20) which received medical treatment (NSAIDs).

An in-syringe low-density solvent dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (IS-LDS-DLLME) is presented for the extraction of palladium from a highly acidic medium before its quantification by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy. The extraction solvent was 1-undecanol, and benzil mono-(2-pyridyl) hydrazone was employed as a ligand. Here, no dispersive solvent is needed as the vortex disperses 1-undecanol in the aqueous sample solution.

A Low-Cost Process for Fabricating Reinforced 3D Printing Thermoplastic Filaments.

Low-cost desktop-sized fused deposition modeling (FDM) printers have been widely embraced by small to large-scale institutions and individuals. To further enhance their utility and increase the range of materials that they can process, this work proposes a low-cost solution that adapts to low-cost desktop-sized extruders and enables them to fabricate filaments comprising a wide range of nonorganic reinforcing particles. This solution will fill a gap in the field, as low-cost fabrication techniques for reinforced filaments have been lacking.

Aim: Post-COVID-19 syndrome is defined as continuous symptoms related to SARS-CoV-2 infection, which can persist for several weeks or months. Healthcare leadership development during a pandemic: do not stop, adapt.

Research carried out in 2016 by two of the authors of this article investigated the role that leadership 'theory' plays within an individual's leadership development and identified other components of clinical leadership programmes that are key to enabling the development of future leaders. While early career doctors identified leadership theories and concepts as important within their development as clinical leaders, these must be closely tied to real-life practices and coupled with activities that aim to develop an increased self-awareness, understanding of others, clinical exposure and leadership tools that they can use in practice. During a healthcare crisis, such as a global pandemic, maintaining a focus on leadership development (particularly for more junior clinicians) might not be seen as important, but leadership is needed to help people and organisations 'get through' a crisis as well as help develop leadership capacity for the longer term.

Background: Crises in academia can best be dealt with as a polarity that needs to be leveraged rather than a problem that needs to be solved. This work aimed at utilizing the Polarity Approach for Continuity and Transformation (PACT)™ to establish a guide for medical schools during times of crisis to minimize the effect of crisis-driven decisions on strategic growth.

Our aim is to evaluate the frequencies of dihydrooroate dehydrogenase (DHODH) (rs3213422), ABCG2 (rs2231142) and CYP2C19 (rs4244285) allele distribution among patients receiving leflunomide for RA and their possible impact on leflunomide performance in disease control. Patients (>18 years) who fulfilled the 2010 ACR classification criteria for RA receiving leflunomide (20 mg/day) were included in the study.

The combination of botulinum toxin type A (BTX) with rehabilitation techniques such as modified constraint-induced movement therapy (mCIMT) has emerged as a highly efficient intervention for stroke patients to start synchronized motor function along with spasticity reduction. The current systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted in order to evaluate the available literature about the safety and efficacy of constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) combined with BTX in stroke patients with upper limb spasticity.
