An in-syringe low-density solvent dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (IS-LDS-DLLME) is presented for the extraction of palladium from a highly acidic medium before its quantification by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy. The extraction solvent was 1-undecanol, and benzil mono-(2-pyridyl) hydrazone was employed as a ligand. Here, no dispersive solvent is needed as the vortex disperses 1-undecanol in the aqueous sample solution.

Low-cost desktop-sized fused deposition modeling (FDM) printers have been widely embraced by small to large-scale institutions and individuals. To further enhance their utility and increase the range of materials that they can process, this work proposes a low-cost solution that adapts to low-cost desktop-sized extruders and enables them to fabricate filaments comprising a wide range of nonorganic reinforcing particles. Research carried out in 2016 by two of the authors of this article investigated the role that leadership 'theory' plays within an individual's leadership development and identified other components of clinical leadership programmes that are key to enabling the development of future leaders. While early career doctors identified leadership theories and concepts as important within their development as clinical leaders, these must be closely tied to real-life practices and coupled with activities that aim to develop an increased self-awareness, understanding of others, clinical exposure and leadership tools that they can use in practice. During a healthcare crisis, such as a global pandemic, maintaining a focus on leadership development (particularly for more junior clinicians) might not be seen as important, but leadership is needed to help people and organisations 'get through' a crisis as well as help develop leadership capacity for the longer term.

Leflunomide is one of the commonly used drugs in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which on administration is converted into its active metabolite teriflunomide. Our aim is to evaluate the frequencies of dihydrooroate dehydrogenase (DHODH) (rs3213422), ABCG2 (rs2231142) and CYP2C19 (rs4244285) allele distribution among patients receiving leflunomide for RA and their possible impact on leflunomide performance in disease control. Patients (>18 years) who fulfilled the 2010 ACR classification criteria for RA receiving leflunomide (20 mg/day) were included in the study.
