People with dementia have a high likelihood of being hospitalized at some point during the disease process. Recent research has found that more can be done to improve dementia care in hospitals. One of the strategies suggested to help achieve this objective is to provide dementia education programs to hospital staff.

Using electrical impedance tomography to characterize lung impairment of children with primary ciliary dyskinesia: A pilot cross-sectional study.

Background: In children with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), measures more sensitive than spirometry are needed to characterize underlying pulmonary impairment. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a promising noninvasive method for monitoring the distribution of lung ventilation, and it does not require patient collaboration. We aimed to provide an assessment of the feasibility and clinical usefulness of EIT in characterizing lung impairment in children with PCD, compared to spirometry and multiple breath nitrogen washout (MBWN ) test.

Relapsing pediatric non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcomas: The impact of routine imaging surveillance on early detection and post-relapse survival.

Purpose: The chances of patients with relapsing pediatric non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcomas (NRSTS) being cured are limited. This retrospective single-institutional study examines the potential role of routine surveillance imaging for detecting recurrent tumor, and its impact on post-relapse survival.

Methods: The analysis concerned 86 patients < 21 years old with relapsing NRSTS treated from 1985 to 2020.

The novel Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection has milder presentation in children than in adults, mostly requiring only supportive therapy. The immunopathogenic course of COVID-19 can be divided in two distinct but overlapping phases: the first triggered by the virus itself and the second one by the host immune response (cytokine storm). Over the past decade, synthetic cannabinoids have inundated the global market and now form the largest category of new psychoactive substances. Once these chemicals are available on the global market, they can be applied to plant material in a clandestine environment to create an end-product that is smoked by the user. The synthetic cannabinoids AMB-FUBINACA and 5F-ADB were most frequently detected between 2017 and the beginning of 2019.

Festival testing: A survey of suspected drugs seized from New Zealand music festivals, December 2018 to March 2019.

Music festivals and other recreational events are common settings for illicit drug use with the intention of socialising, relaxing and creating a memorable experience. The use of stimulants is commonly reported at music festivals, with a general preference for MDMA, cocaine, cathinones and LSD. The results from this survey of drugs seized at New Zealand music festivals show a similar trend, with MDMA accounting for two-thirds of the 305 samples seized.

Optimization of the interface between high-k dielectrics and SiGe substrates is a challenging topic due to the complexity arising from the coexistence of Si and Ge interfacial oxides. Defective high-k/SiGe interfaces limit future applications of SiGe as a channel material for electronic devices. In this paper, we identify the surface layer structure of as-received SiGe and Al2O3/SiGe structures based on soft and hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Barriers to participation in physical activity and exercise among middle-aged and elderly individuals.

INTRODUCTION Although the benefits of physical activity and exercise are widely acknowledged, many middle-aged and elderly individuals remain sedentary. This cross-sectional study aimed to identify the external and internal barriers to physical activity and exercise participation among middle-aged and elderly individuals, as well as identify any differences in these barriers between the two groups. METHODS Recruited individuals were categorised into either the middle-aged (age 45-59 years, n = 60) or elderly (age ≥ 60 years, n = 60) group.

Methods: Data on health system, population, meteorological parameters, malaria cases, anopheline vectors, and control activities during 2005-2007 was obtained from Minab Health Center, Minab Meteorological Station and published documents about malaria elements in the study area. A datasheet was created in excel 2003 for analysis.

Crimean--Congo hemorrhagic fever: a molecular survey on hard ticks (Ixodidae) in Yazd province, Iran.

Objective: To determine the rate of Crimean--Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) infection in hard ticks (Ixodidae) in Yazd province of Iran.

Methods: A molecular survey on hard ticks (Ixodidae) was conducted in Yazd province during 2008-2009. A total of 140 hard ticks (three genera and 7 species) were collected from randomly selected villages and were exanimate for presence of CCHFV reverse transcription--polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method.

Tape measure protein having MT3 motif facilitates phage entry into stationary phase cells of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Tape measure protein (TMP) having MT3 motif in mycobacteriophage TM4 genome has been reported to enable the phage infection of Mycobacterium smegmatis during stationary phase. In the present work looking at eight additional mycobacteriophage genomes by in silico analysis, six of them have been found to possess MT3 motif in TMP. The absence of MT3 motif in Che12 and D29 probably makes them incapable of infecting stationary phase cells of Mycobacterium tuberculosis which was experimentally evaluated by the performance of respective luciferase reporter phage constructs developed from the parental phages Che12, D29 and TM4.
