Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a change in the delivery of acute and emergency surgical services. With emphasis on reducing unnecessary operative intervention and performing more CT scans, there has been a shift in managing acute appendicitis conservatively. We evaluate the impact of this shift on the management of acute appendicitis.

Objective: The goal of this study is to compare the subvastus method to the usual medial parapatellar technique for total knee replacement in patients with osteoarthritis who present to a tertiary care centre, based on quadriceps function recovery in days after surgery.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed case notes of 76 patients with osteoarthritis who had total knee replacements in a tertiary care hospital over the course of a year from August 2019 to August 2020. We divided them into two groups: group A received TKR via the subvastus approach, and group B received TKR via the medial parapatellar approach.

The use of leaded gasoline adversely affects cardiovascular, nervous, and immune systems. Study projects to rule out different variables of prognostic importance in lead-exposed subjects. A total of 317 traffic wardens with 5 years of outdoor experience and Hb levels < 10 µg/dl, and 100 traffic wardens with indoor duties were substituted in two groups.

In silico characterization can help to explain the interaction between molecules and predict three-dimensional structures. Various studies have confirmed the glucose-lowering effects of plant extracts, ie, lupeol and iso-orientin, which enable them to be used as antidiabetic agents. Aims of the present study were to evaluate the hypoglycemic activities of lupeol and iso-orientin in a rat model.

Objective: To investigate the hepatoprotective efficacy of cranberry extract (CBE) against carbon tetrachloride (CCl)-induced hepatic injury using in-vivo animal model.

Methods: The hepatoprotective efficacy of CBE (200 and 400 mg/kg) was investigated against CCl (4 mL/kg)-induced hepatotoxicity, elevated liver enzymes [ALT (alanine aminotransferase), AST (aspartate aminotransferase), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP)], and total protein (TP) contents in the serum. Moreover, CBE-aided antioxidant defense against hepatotoxic insult of CCl was measured by evaluating a number of anti-oxidative biomarkers including reduced glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and malondialdehyde (MDA) in the serum by using spectrophotometric analyses.

We present a method for three-dimensional (3D) tracking of a human finger from a monocular sequence of images. To recover the third dimension from the two-dimensional images, we use the fact that the motion of the human arm is highly constrained owing to the dependencies between elbow and forearm and the physical constraints on joint angles. We use these anthropometric constraints to derive a 3D trajectory of a gesticulating arm.
