Asthma, a lung disorder that causes impaired respiratory function, is characterized by an apparent infiltration of inflammatory cells. Gentisic acid (GA), a phenolic acid common in food ingredients, has antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. Its potential application in mitigating asthma, however, remains unexplored.

Background: Depression is the most common psychiatric disorder in older adults, even though it is commonly misdiagnosed and undertreated, leading to exacerbations of preexisting medical conditions and even a higher mortality rate. In the present systematic review with meta-analysis, we quantify the magnitude of depression and its associated risk factors among the older adult population in Egypt.

Methods: A thorough literature search was performed from 2010 up to October 2023.

Asthma is a lung condition characterized by impaired respiratory function and an apparent infiltration of inflammatory cells. Chalcones are substances that have attracted considerable interest in the disciplines of pharmaceutical chemistry and drug discovery due to their diverse biochemical processes, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antibacterial, and others, but whether they can be used in asthma treatment has yet to be investigated. This study aimed to investigate the immunomodulatory effect of 4 hydroxychalcone (4-HC) against allergic asthma in mice.

In this study, novel adsorbents were synthesized via the activation and magnetization of carbon spheres, graphene, and carbon nanotubes fabricated from plastics to improve their surface area and porosity and facilitate their separation from aqueous solutions. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy "FTIR", X-ray diffraction "XRD", energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy "EDX", transmission electron microscope "TEM", and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy "XPS" affirmed the successful activation and magnetization of the fabricated materials. Further, surface area analysis showed that the activation and magnetization enhanced the surface area.

Background: Limited data is available regarding the severity and mortality of Mpox in individuals with immunocompromised conditions. Therefore, we performed this meta-analysis to understand the impact of HIV- or non-HIV-associated immunosuppression on the severity of Mpox requiring hospitalization and mortality.

Methods: A thorough literature search was performed from 2022 up to January 2024.

The increasing rates of morbidity and mortality owing to bacterial infections, particularly have necessitated finding solutions to face this issue. Thus, we elucidated the phytochemical constituents and antibacterial potential of extract (CDE). Using LC-ESI-MS/MS, the main phytoconstituents of CDE were explored, which were kaempferol-3,7--bis-alpha-L-rhamnoside, isorhamnetin, cyanidin-3-glucoside, kaempferide, kaempferol-3--alpha-L-rhamnoside, caffeic acid, isoquercitrin, quinic acid, isocitrate, mannitol, apigenin, acacetin, and naringenin.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers utilized Landsat imagery and various indices to analyze LST changes from 2000 to 2021, finding that non-drainage areas experience higher LST values.
  • * Results revealed significant variations in LST over the years and highlighted that land use practices and hydrologic indices significantly influence these temperature changes, with implications for local environmental management.

In this study, a cost-effective powdered Zn l-aspartic acid bio-metal organic framework (Zn l-Asp bio-MOF) was reported as an efficient adsorbent for Direct Red 81 (DR-81) as an anionic organic dye. The prepared bio-MOF was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), field emission transmission electron microscopy (FETEM), surface area analysis (BET), and thermal gravimetrical analysis (TGA). The resulting bio-MOF has a large surface area (180.

This work deals with the synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles/activated carbon (ZnO NPs/AC) nanocomposites with different weight ratios (3:1, 1:1, and 1:3), where the antimicrobial, antiviral, and cytotoxicity impact of the formulated nanocomposites were evaluated versus the crude ZnO and AC samples. The formula (3:1; designated Z3C1) exhibited the utmost bactericidal effect against Gram positive group, unicellular and filamentous fungi. Regarding Gram negative group, the sample (Z3C1) was remarkably effective against Klebsiella pneumonia, unlike the case of Escherichia coli.

Organophosphate-based pesticides, such as diazinon, are among the most toxic organic contaminants to human and environment. Effective removal of diazinon from contaminated water sources is critical. Zirconium Metal-organic frameworks (Zr-MOFs) are promising candidates for the removal of organic contaminants from wastewater.

An efficient, environmentally compatible and highly porous, silver surface-modified photocatalytic zinc oxide/cellulose acetate/ polypyrrole ZnO/CA/Ppy hybrid nanofibers matrix was fabricated using an electrospinning technique. Electrospinning parameters such as solution flow rate, applied voltage and the distance between needles to collector were optimized. The optimum homogenous and uniform ZnO/CA/Ppy polymeric composite nanofiber was fabricated through the dispersion of 0.

This reported work aims to fabricate an eco-friendly Zr bio-based MOF and assessment its adsorption efficiency towards the cationic and anionic dye pollutants including methylene blue (MB) and direct red 81 (DR-81), respectively. Also, its adsorption tendency for the highly toxic heavy metal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) was compared with dyes. The adsorption performance of bio-MOF showed that the maximum monolayer adsorption capacities were recorded as 79.

This study aims at synthesizing porous coconut ash (CA)-based geopolymer foam with high thermal insulation property. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), alumina slag (AS) and water contents as the main parameters, which affect the performance hardened CA, have been studied. The porosity was developed by hydrogen gas resulted from the interaction of Al metal, in AS, with NaOH.
