Background: Pharmacological vitamin C (Vit-C), or high-dose Vit-C has recently gained attention as a potential cancer therapeutic. However, the anticancer activity of Vit-C has not been investigated in realistic 3D models of human cancers, especially with respect to breast cancer (BC), and its potential benefits remain under debate. Herein, we investigate the activity and mechanism of action of pharmacological Vit-C on two BC tumor spheroids.

Treatment of Pleural Mesothelioma: ASCO Guideline Update.

Purpose: To provide evidence-based recommendations to practicing physicians and others on the management of pleural mesothelioma (PM).

Methods: ASCO convened an Expert Panel of medical oncology, thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, pathology, cancer genetics, and advocacy experts to conduct an updated literature search, which included systematic reviews, meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials, and prospective and retrospective comparative observational studies published from 2016 through 2024. Outcomes of interest included survival, disease-free or recurrence-free survival, and quality of life.

Prevalence and Spectrum of β-Thalassemia Mutations in Baghdad, Iraq: Data from the Premarital Screening Program.

The knowledge of the prevalence and molecular basis of β-hemoglobinopathies constitutes an important prerequisite for an effective prevention program. To address this issue in Iraq's capital, Baghdad, a total of 12526 individuals (6263 couples) attending three main Premarital Screening centers were enrolled. Individuals were labeled as β-hemoglobin disorders based on full blood counts and high-performance liquid chromatography.

Glycine plays a crucial role as an agonist of NMDAR, enhancing the receptor's affinity for glutamate and supporting normal synaptic function and plasticity, that is, signal transmission between neurons.

Past, present, and future of electrical impedance tomography and myography for medical applications: a scoping review.

This scoping review summarizes two emerging electrical impedance technologies: electrical impedance myography (EIM) and electrical impedance tomography (EIT). These methods involve injecting a current into tissue and recording the response at different frequencies to understand tissue properties. The review discusses basic methods and trends, particularly the use of electrodes: EIM uses electrodes for either injection or recording, while EIT uses them for both.

Methods: All patients underwent the procedure under local anesthesia. A total of 29 patients underwent percutaneous repair with two knots (Group A), and 33 patients underwent percutaneous repair with one knot (Group B).

Aim: Compare the efficiency of selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) and Nano vitamin D3 in modulating alveolar bone osteoporosis induced by anastrozole in albino rats.

Materials And Methods: 28 female albino rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (7/group); Control group (GP I): rats were received distilled water orally. Anastrozole group (GP II): rats were orally given anastrozole (1 mg/kg/day) dissolved in distilled water.

Validation of NBD-coupled taurocholic acid for intravital analysis of bile acid transport in liver and kidney of mice.

Fluorophore-coupled bile acids (BA) represent an important tool for intravital analysis of BA flux in animal models of cholestatic diseases. However, addition of a fluorophore to a BA may alter transport properties. We developed and validated a 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzo-2-oxa-1,3-diazole-coupled taurocholic acid (3β-NBD-TCA) as a probe for intravital analysis of BA homeostasis.

Persistence of activated anti-mesothelin hYP218 chimeric antigen receptor T cells in the tumour is associated with efficacy in gastric and colorectal carcinomas.

Patients with advanced gastric and colorectal cancers have limited treatment options. Since mesothelin is highly expressed in these tumour types, we evaluated the therapeutic benefits of anti-mesothelin hYP218 CAR T cells alone, and in combination with anti-PD1 antibody, pembrolizumab. GEPIA analysis was performed using human gastric (n = 408) and colon cancer tumours (n = 275) in TCGA database, to evaluate mRNA expression of mesothelin, compared to normal tissues.
