Effect of Nigeria Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 Pandemic, Nigeria.

Nigeria had a confirmed case of COVID-19 on February 28, 2020. On March 17, 2020, the Nigerian Government inaugurated the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 to coordinate the country's multisectoral intergovernmental response. The PTF developed the National COVID-19 Multisectoral Pandemic Response Plan as the blueprint for implementing the response plans.

An epidemiological investigation of the 2019 suspected pertussis outbreak in northwestern Nigeria.

Introduction: In 2019, we investigated the profile of the cases and controls and the determinants of pertussis transmission in Kebbi State, Northwestern Nigeria, to inform better immunization and surveillance strategies.

Methods: Community-based unmatched case-control study and review of the 2019 pertussis routine surveillance data in the affected settlements in the state were conducted. A total of 52 suspected cases of pertussis and 107 control from two local government areas in Kebbi State were recruited.

Time delays in the response to the Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C outbreak in Nigeria - 2017.

Background: Nigeria reports high rates of mortality linked with recurring meningococcal meningitis outbreaks within the African meningitis belt. Few studies have thoroughly described the response to these outbreaks to provide strong and actionable public health messages. We describe how time delays affected the response to the 2016/2017 meningococcal meningitis outbreak in Nigeria.

[A retroperitoneal abscess after endoscopic sphincterotomy: a severe and infrequent complication].

We report the case of a 55-year-old female patient, previously cholecystectomized, who was admitted to the Hospital because of recurrent biliary abdominal pain, cholestasis and common bile duct enlargement by ultrasonography. 48 hours after an endoscopic sphincterotomy the patient developed abdominal pain and fever. CT scan demonstrated air and an infected liquid collection in the retroperitoneum.
