The relationship between dietary patterns (DPs) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) has been the subject of much research, but given the significance of this disease, studying the factors affecting it through different methodological considerations is of utmost importance. This study aimed to investigate the association between the four dietary patterns (DPs) derived from reduced-rank regression (RRR) and the risk of CVD predicted by the Framingham Risk Score (FRS) in the Arab residence of Khuzestan, Iran. Furthermore, the predefined Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) would be used as a comparative model to assess the validity of the extracted DPs.

Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) concentration is a marker of ovarian reserve that decreases with age. However, a decrease in AMH may occur more rapidly under the influence of environmental factors. The present study investigated the association between long-term exposure to ambient air pollutants with serum concentrations of AMH and the AMH rate of decline.

A number of studies have suggested that multiple sclerosis (MS) can be associated with serious vascular complications, for which pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a potentially lethal complication. The purpose of this study is to establish a current literature-based estimate of the incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and PTE in patients with MS (pwMS) due to the lack of systematic reviews and meta-analyses on this topic. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, studies were assessed regarding the association between MS and the incidence of VTE.

Background & Objective: Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen-1 (EBNA1) is one of the most important proteins of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) that might be mutated in various related cancers. The purpose of this study was to compare EBNA1 mutations in the C-terminal region between patients with cervical and ovarian cancer and healthy individuals.

Methods: As test and control groups, 18 EBV-positive paraffin-embedded samples of cervical and ovarian cancer and 10 age- and gender-matched healthy volunteers who did not have cancer but were EBV-positive were both used.

The cervix of the uterus is a rare site for cavernous hemangiomas. Cervical hemangiomas are slow-growing tumors with characteristic histological findings, including dilated vessels with increased endothelial cells. Although their pathophysiology remains unclear, hormones are believed to play an important role in the development of these vascular tumors.

Drug repurposing is an active area of research that aims to decrease the cost and time of drug development. Most of those efforts are primarily concerned with the prediction of drug-target interactions. Many evaluation models, from matrix factorization to more cutting-edge deep neural networks, have come to the scene to identify such relations.

Background: Ocular melanoma is a rare kind of eye malignancy that threatens the patient's eyesight. Radiotherapy and surgical removal are the most commonly used therapeutic modalities, and nanomedicine has lately entered this field. Brachytherapy using Ruthenium-106 ( Ru) ophthalmic plaques has been used for decades to treat ocular melanoma, with the applicator placed on the patient's eyes until the prescribed dose reaches the tumor apex.

M2 macrophages are the most prevalent type in the tumor microenvironment and their polarization to M1 type can be used as a potential cancer immunotherapy. Here, we investigated the role of tumor microenvironment and particularly purified exosomes in M2 to M1 macrophage polarization. Rapamycin treatment on triple-negative breast cancer cells (TNBC) was performed.

Background: In order to achieve the major goals of transformation in the health care system, organizing and developing the existing potential properly play a pivotal role. The objective is to conduct a scoping review to describe available extent of literatures about scattered structure, process, and outcome factors of the clinical specialist nurse and redesign those as three cohesive and interconnected factors.

Materials And Methods: A scoping review of studies was conducted from 1970 to June 20, 2020, focusing on the structure, process, and outcome factors of the clinical specialist nurse from six databases.

Article Synopsis
  • High bone mineral density (BMD) issues are prevalent in North Africa and the Middle East, and between 1990 and 2019, deaths attributable to low BMD have doubled, highlighting the need for more awareness and action by health policymakers.
  • The study utilized data from the GBD 2019 to assess the impacts of low BMD, revealing a significant burden with over 20,000 deaths and nearly 806,000 disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) attributed to low BMD in 2019, despite a decrease in rates after age standardization.
  • Although there are decreasing trends in age-standardized burden indices, low BMD remains a critical health issue for the elderly population, requiring long-term strategies and

We investigated the association between air pollution and changes in ovarian follicles, anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) levels, the occurrence of necroptosis cell death by activation of receptor-interacting protein kinase 3 (RIPK3) and, the activation of mixed lineage kinase domain-like (MLKL) proteins. Forty-two female Wistar rats were divided into three groups of 14 each, which were exposed to real-ambient air, filtered air and purified air (control) in two periods of 3 and 5 months. The results showed that the number of ovarian follicles decreased in the group exposed to real-ambient air versus the control group ( < 0.

Birch wood is a potential feedstock for biogas production in Northern Europe; however, the lignocellulosic matrix is recalcitrant preventing efficient conversion to methane. To improve digestibility, birch wood was thermally pre-treated using steam explosion at 220 °C for 10 min. The steam-exploded birch wood (SEBW) was co-digested with cow manure for a period of 120 days in continuously fed CSTRs where the microbial community adapted to the SEBW feedstock.
