Purpose: In DRLs 2020, the entrance surface air kerma (Ka,e) was set to 17 mGy/min as the reference dose rate in fluoroscopy. But, Ka,e in fluoroscopy for different regions and Ka,e in exposure was not set. A multicenter survey was conducted to evaluate Ka,e by each area.

The genome-editing efficiency of the CRISPR-Cas9 system hinges on the recognition of the protospacer adjacent motif (PAM) sequence, which is essential for Cas9 binding to DNA. The commonly used (SpyCas9) targets the 5'-NGG-3' PAM sequence, which does not cover all the potential genomic-editing sites. To expand the toolbox for genome editing, SpyCas9 has been engineered to recognize flexible PAM sequences and Cas9 orthologs have been used to recognize novel PAM sequences.

This work is an essential aspect of a large scale project aimed at providing clinicians with a non-invasive patient-specific decision support tool regarding the rupture risk assessment. Rapidly progressive mucus plugs in allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis.

Introduction: Allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis (ABPM) is a chronic airway disease characterized by the presence of fungi that trigger allergic reactions and airway obstruction. Here, we present a unique case of ABPM in which a patient experienced sudden respiratory failure due to mucus plug-induced airway obstruction. The patient's life was saved by venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) and bronchoscopic removal of the plug.

Pancreatic Cancer Cells May Adhere to the External Surface of the Puncture Needle After Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration.

Objective: We prospectively investigated whether cells derived from pancreatic cancers adhered to the puncture needle's external surface after endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) and whether wiping the needle with alcohol swabs removed residual cancer cells.

Methods: The participants were 100 consecutive patients who underwent EUS-FNA for suspected pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. In the first pass of EUS-FNA, we prepared aspiration and lavage cytological diagnosis materials from the lumen and external surface of the puncture needle, respectively.

Background/aims: In stereomicroscopic sample isolation processing, the cutoff value (≥4 mm) of stereomicroscopically visible white cores indicates high diagnostic sensitivity. We aimed to evaluate endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition (EUS-TA) using a simplified stereomicroscopic on-site evaluation of upper gastrointestinal subepithelial lesions (SELs).

Methods: In this multicenter prospective trial, we performed EUS-TA using a 22-gauge Franseen needle in 34 participants with SELs derived from the upper gastrointestinal muscularis propria, requiring pathological diagnosis.

Background: Neonatal maternal separation (MS) has been used to model long-lasting changes in behavior caused by neuroplastic changes associated with exposure to early-life stress. Earlier studies showed that transient gut inflammation can influence the development of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). A prevailing paradigm of the etiology of IBS is that transient noxious events lead to long-lasting sensitization of the neural pain circuit, despite complete resolution of the initiating event.

In this retrospective study, we investigated the relationship between sarcopenia and the prognosis of patients receiving first-line nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel plus gemcitabine for unresectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Methods We enrolled 251 patients with unresectable metastatic or locally advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma who had received chemotherapy between January 2015 and December 2020 at Kitasato University Hospital.

We herein examined two types of model hapten-induced inflammation models, colitis (an inflammatory bowel disease model of mucosal immunity) and contact dermatitis (a type IV allergic model of systemic immunity), in CTH-deficient () and MPST-deficient () mice.

International multicenter study comparing COVID-19 in patients with cancer to patients without cancer: Impact of risk factors and treatment modalities on survivorship.

Background: In this international multicenter study, we aimed to determine the independent risk factors associated with increased 30 day mortality and the impact of cancer and novel treatment modalities in a large group of patients with and without cancer with COVID-19 from multiple countries.

Methods: We retrospectively collected de-identified data on a cohort of patients with and without cancer diagnosed with COVID-19 between January and November 2020 from 16 international centers.

Results: We analyzed 3966 COVID-19 confirmed patients, 1115 with cancer and 2851 without cancer patients.

Salmincola markewitschi Shedko et Shedko, 2002 (Copepoda: Lernaeopodidae) is an ectoparasitic copepod mainly infecting the buccal cavities of white-spotted charr Salvelinus leucomaenis (Pallas) (Salmonidae). This species has only been recorded from Northeast Asia, where a morphologically similar congener Salmincola carpionis (Krøyer, 1837) is also distributed, using the same host species. These copepods are hard to distinguish from each other because of their similarities.
