Patients on double antiplatelet treatment who need early in-hospital coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) are at high risk of major bleeding. In this study, we aimed to investigate the impact of ticagrelor preloading on CABG related bleeding in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) initially managed with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). Patients with the diagnosis of STEMI who were managed with pPCI and underwent subsequent early (4-7 days following pPCI) or delayed (> 7 days following pPCI) on-pump CABG surgery were included.

Background: The advancements in wearable technology have made the detection of arrhythmias more accessible. While smartwatches are commonly used to detect patients with atrial fibrillation, their effectiveness in the differential diagnosis of supraventricular tachycardias (SVT) lacks consensus.

Methods: A study was conducted on 47 patients with documented SVTs on a 12-lead ECG.

Assessment of left ventricular filling pressure (LVFP) is crucial in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Since current guideline recommended echocardiographic parameters have limited value, more comprehensive assessment methods are required in this patient subset. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical utility of left atrial reservoir strain (LARS) imaging in patients treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI).

Purpose: In patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF), functional changes are observed in the left atrium (LA) after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) procedure. Although previous studies have investigated the altered mechanical functions of the LA with radiofrequency (RF) ablation, changes in the LA functions in the early period after cryoablation (CB-2) have not been clearly demonstrated. This study aims to explore the early periodical changes in mechanical functions of the LA in patients with PAF who underwent CB-2 based ablation through the help of echocardiographic methods which contain Doppler and strain parameters.

Objective: To evaluate the potential value of the machine learning (ML) models using radiomic features of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and cine images on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) along with relevant clinical information and conventional MRI parameters for the prediction of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients.

Methods: This retrospective study included 60 patients with the first STEMI. MACE consisted of new-onset congestive heart failure, ventricular arrhythmia, and cardiac death.

Clinicians should have a basic understanding of the working principle of the instruments they use to avoid potential pitfalls caused by post-processing of the acquired biological signals. An electrocardiogram (ECG) is no exception; many different errors can arise during the acquisition or the processing of the ECG data, which may result in dangerous misdiagnoses. We present a case where the use of an inappropriate high-pass filter led to a false diagnosis of ST-elevation myocardial infarction.

Patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation who are under chronic oral anticoagulant therapy (OAC) treatment frequently require interruption of OAC treatment. By examining the presence of left atrial/left atrial appendage (LA/LAA) thrombus or dense spontaneous echo contrast (SEC) with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) we aimed to develop an individualized strategy. To test the validity of CHADSVASc score based recommendations was our secondary purpose.

Background: Although previous studies reported frequent premature atrial contractions(fPACs) increased the risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes, especially atrial fibrillation(AF), there is a substantial inconsistency between reports concerning the definition of fPAC. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between fPAC and cardiovascular outcomes, especially AF. We further searched for a cutoff value of fPAC for prediction of AF.
