Background: Several case-control studies have suggested that global and loci-specific deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) methylation in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of DNA might be potential biomarkers of cancer diagnosis and prognosis. In this study, for the first time, we intended to assess the diagnostic power of the methylation level of tumor suppressor candidate 3 () gene promoter in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC).

Materials And Methods: In the current study, we quantitatively assessed the promoter methylation level of in PBMCs of 70 CRC cases and 75 non-cancerous subjects via methylation quantification of endonuclease-resistant DNA (MethyQESD) method.

The feeding of high-concentrate diets commonly results in lowered pH and ruminal dysbiosis which cause shifts in uptake dynamics of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) and altered epithelial function. Therefore, the current study evaluated the effect of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) on ruminal fermentation products, gene expression in the ruminal epithelium and the associated changes in ruminal microorganisms in lambs fed a high-concentrate diet. Twenty-six Afshari lambs adapted to a high-concentrate diet during a completely randomised design were fed with a basal diet supplemented with 100 g oil supplement (OS; 60 g sunflower oil and 40 g fish oil) for 10 (OS10), 20 (OS20) and 30 (OS30) d, respectively ( = 6).

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is the leading cause of hip replacement in young children. However, arthroplasty in this population is challenging with several concerns about quality of the growing bone, young age for revision surgery, and difficulties in potential several revisions. In this study we introduce a case of a 12-year old who is one of the youngest patients to undergo revision hip arthroplasty.

Background: There is still controversy regarding the best technique for ankle arthrodesis to acheive stable rigid fixation along with reconstructing a functional plantigrade foot. Moreover, existing techniques have complictions related to stability, soft tissue covering, fusion rate, and exposure.

Methods: With the anterior approach exactly on the tibialis anterior sheath, the joint was exposed and previous hardware, if any, was removed and with the safe direct approach, the ankle, hindfoot, and indirectly the subtalar joints were accessed.

Copolymers with different hydrophilic/lipophilic ratios (HLR) were used to optimize the compatibility between polymer as drug carrier and quercetin as lipophilic drug. Synthesis of amphiphilic triblock copolymers (TC) of poly(butylene adipate)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(butylene adipate) (PBA-PEG-PBA) with different PBA molecular weights is the first approach for this purpose. Polymerization and structural features of the polymers were analyzed by different characterization techniques (GPC, (1)H NMR and FT-IR).
