Nasopharyngeal carcinoma with unusual metastatic spread to the spine and meninges: a case report with literature review.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an epithelial malignancy commonly associated with Epstein-Barr virus infection. While bone, liver, and lung metastases are well-documented, central nervous system (CNS) involvement, particularly spinal and meningeal metastases, is extremely rare. We present a 41-year-old male with nasal obstruction and diplopia, diagnosed with locally advanced NPC.

Intradural extra-medullary spinal cord tumor after dorso-lumbar spine fixation following 12th dorsal vertebra burst fracture: A case report with literature review.

Intradural extramedullary spinal cord tumors are rare but can cause significant neurological symptoms. We present a case of a 23-year-old male who developed progressive bilateral leg pain and lower limb weakness 2 years after undergoing posterior spinal fixation for a T12 burst fracture. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed an intradural extramedullary tumor at the site of the previous surgery.

Neonatal Chronic Granulomatous Disease With Septic Arthritis and Osteomyelitis: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenge With Literature Review.

This case report underlines the diagnostic and therapeutic dilemmas in a 19-day-old neonate who had presented with features suggestive of chronic granulomatous disease (CGD). The baby had a history of fever, lethargy, and masses on the skin, for which an extensive diagnostic workup was needed to rule out infective etiology given no improvement with initial empiric therapy. Laboratory investigations, including imaging and genetic studies, confirmed the diagnosis of CGD.

Development and evaluation of an antigen targeting lateral flow test for Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever.

Background: Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) is a viral haemorrhagic fever with a case fatality rate of 5-25% that has been prioritised for research and development by the World Health Organisation. There are no CCHF rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) commercially available. We describe the development and evaluation of an antigen-targeting lateral flow immunoassay RDT for CCHF.

The coexistence of anterior communicating artery aneurysm and meningioma: A literature review and illustrative case.

Background: Anterior communicating artery (Acom) aneurysm has an association with many types of intracranial lesions. However, its association with meningioma can be challenging, which is not well addressed in the literature. Herein, we described a literature review focused on the association between Acom aneurysm and meningioma, explicitly highlighting the spatial presence between these two pathologies.

Preparation and evaluation of QbD based acemetacin loaded transdermal patch formulations for rheumatic diseases.

This research aimed to develop patches for transdermal delivery of acemetacin, which can be used to treat rheumatic diseasesand to determine their potential use. Patches were successfully created by solvent casting method using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol 400, tween 80, and dimethyl sulfoxide. Prepared patches were found using the Design of Experiments (DoE) method within the Quality by Design (QbD) approach.

Comparative efficacy of lidocaine-prilocaine cream and vaginal misoprostol in reducing pain during levonorgestrel intrauterine device insertion in women delivered only by cesarean delivery: A randomized controlled trial.

Objective: To compare efficacy of lidocaine-prilocaine (LP) cream versus misoprostol versus placebo before levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG-IUD) insertion.

Methods: This randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted in a tertiary referral hospital from April 30, 2020 to March 1, 2021 on 210 parous women willing to receive LNG-IUD and delivered only by elective cesarean delivery (CD). Participants received 200 μg vaginal misoprostol or 5 ml of LP cream 5% or placebo 3 h before LNG-IUS insertion.

The current study aimed to assess the psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Jordanians and to evaluate the influence of the socio-demographic variables on this impact.

A meta-analysis of montelukast for recurrent wheeze in preschool children.

Unlabelled: There is conflicting evidence of the effectiveness of montelukast in preschool wheeze. A recent Cochrane review focused on its use in viral-induced wheeze; however, such subgroups are unlikely to exist in real life and change with time, recently highlighted in an international consensus report. We have therefore sought to investigate the effectiveness of montelukast in all children with preschool wheeze (viral-induced and multiple-trigger wheeze).

Radiation dose levels for conventional chest and abdominal X-ray procedures in elected hospitals in Sudan.

This study aimed to assess patient entrance surface air kerma (ESAK) during chest and abdominal X-ray procedures in screen film radiography (SFR) and computed radiography (CR) to establish dose reference levels. Patients' doses were measured in five hospitals for a total of 196 patients. ESAK was calculated from exposure parameters using DosCal software.

The aim of the present study was to characterize the dynamic changes of the testes and the pelvic genitalia in vivo in male dromedary. Eighty-one clinically healthy male dromedaries aged 1.5 to 12 years were assigned for the present study.
