The hepatoprotective effect of Aloe vera on ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats.

Objective: is known for its antioxidant properties. In this experimental study, we aimed to investigate the efficacy of in ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) liver injury in rats.

Methods: Male Wistar Albino rats were divided into three groups, where the sham group (n=7) underwent no medication or surgical procedures, the I/R group (n=7) was the control group that received 45 minutes of applied abdominal aorta ischemia and rats were sacrificed 24 hours after reperfusion, and the I/R+ group (n=7) was the treatment group that was given (30 mg/kg) every day followed by gastric lavage for a month before applying ischemia and performing sacrifice as in the previous group.

Protective effects of ursodeoxycholic acid in experimental corrosive esophagitis injury in rats.

Various treatment modalities are being used for the complications of caustic injuries such as stricture formation. Evaluation of the Approaches of the Anaesthesiologists on Maintenance of Anaesthesia Machines.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to discuss the level of knowledge and approach on 'maintenance, calibration and cleaning of anaesthesia devices' among anaesthesiologists in Turkey.

Methods: A questionnaire was prepared with 21 questions based on the Google document system, and these questionnaires were sent to the anaesthesiologists via e-mail.

Results: Overall, 226 anaesthesiologists answered our survey.

Use of Succinylcholine by Anaesthetists in Turkey: A National Survey.

Objective: Although succinylcholine (SCh) has side effects, it is among the most commonly used muscle relaxants for rapid induction because of the faster onset of its effects and short effect duration. However, there is no information regarding the frequency of use of SCh by anaesthetists in Turkey. This study aims to investigate the use of SCh by anaesthetists working in Turkey.

Turkish Anaesthesiologist's Experiences of Anaesthetic Management of Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Objective: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is an important health problem that is increasing with the increase in the incidence of obesity. For patients with OSA, it is reported that preoperative OSA diagnosis is made in only 10%-20% of the patients. Therefore, it gains importance that these patients are diagnosed in the preoperative period.

The effect of levosimendan on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

Objective Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is an important cause of myocardial damage by means of oxidative, inflammatory, and apoptotic mechanisms. The aim of the present study was to examine the potential cardio protective effects of levosimendan in a diabetic rat model of myocardial I/R injury. Methods A total of 18 streptozotocin-induced diabetic Wistar Albino rats (55 mg/kg) were randomly divided into three equal groups as follows: the diabetic I/R group (DIR) in which myocardial I/R was induced following left thoracotomy, by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery for 60 min, followed by 2 h of reperfusion; the diabetic I/R levosimendan group (DIRL), which underwent I/R by the same method while taking levosimendan intraperitoneal 12 µg kg; and the diabetic control group (DC) which underwent sham operations without tightening of the coronary sutures.

Cost-Conscious of Anesthesia Physicians: An awareness survey.

Objective: Increasing competitive pressure and health performance system in the hospitals result in pressure to reduce the resources allocated. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anesthesiology and intensive care physicians awareness of the cost of the materials used and to determine the factors that influence it.

Methods: This survey was conducted between September 2012 and September 2013 after the approval of the local ethics committee.

The effect of intraoperative sounds of saw and hammer on psychological condition in patients with total knee arthroplasty: prospective randomized study.

Purpose: Surgical procedures are likely to be stressful for patients and their families. Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a major surgical procedure used in the treatment of osteoarthritis. During this procedure the sounds of the saw and hammer may irritate the patient and adversely affect mood.

Comparison of the effects of various airway devices on hemodynamic response and QTc interval in rabbits under general anesthesia.

Unlabelled: In this study, we aimed to compare the effects of various airway devices on QTc interval in rabbits under general anesthesia. The subjects were randomly separated into four groups: Group ETT, Group LMA, Group PLA, Group V-gel. Baseline values and hearth rate, mean arterial pressure and ECG was obtained at the 1st, 5th and 30th minutes after administration of anesthesia and placement of airway device and, QTc interval was evaluated.

Effect of delivery mode on postpartum neonatal body temperatures.

Objective: It is known that general and local anesthesia practices disrupt the delicate balance of thermoregulation center which is already sensitive to very tiny differences of temperatures in a normal subject. We aimed to evaluate and compare the rectal temperatures of newborns born with normal vaginal delivery and cesarean section.

Methods: We performed a prospective study of 106 term newborn - 40 born with normal vaginal delivery (group 1) and 66 born with cesarean section [51 spinal anesthesia (group 2), 15 general anesthesia (group 3)].

Comparison of effects of sugammadex and neostigmine on QTc prolongation in rabbits under general anesthesia.

Purpose: To compare the effects of sugammadex and neostigmine, used to antagonize the effects of rocuronium, on the QTc interval.

Methods: This study used 10 adult New Zealand white rabbits of 2.5-3.
