Objectives: To compare the usage of laryngeal mask airway (LMA) and orotracheal intubation (OTI), which are separate airway management methods in tracheal reconstruction surgeries, in terms of perioperative management, mortality, and morbidity.
Methods: Adult patients who underwent tracheal reconstruction surgery between June 2020 and June 2022 were included in the study, retrospectively. Patients with lost data or primary tracheal malignancy were excluded.
Purpose: Social media has become the new information acquisition platform for all content producers. In the current literature, there are no studies examining the content quality and the strengths and weaknesses of videos on Instagram that explain anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, which is the most discussed topic of sports surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality, strengths and weaknesses of information pertaining to ACL surgery that is disseminated on Instagram.

In order to overcome this problem ex vivo expansion with small molecules such as Valproic acid (VPA) or Nicotinamide (NAM) have been shown to be effective. To the best of our knowledge, the combinatory effects of VPA and NAM on HSPC expansion has not been studied earlier.

Familial predisposition to MM has long been recognized, but the genetic underpinnings remain elusive. This study aimed to investigate germline variants in Turkish families with recurrent MM cases.

Patients And Methods: KIR genotypes and ligands of 204 newly diagnosed MM patients are compared with 424 healthy subjects.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the factors that influenced one-year and five-year mortality and to compare major and minor amputations in diabetic patients with comorbidities.
Patients And Methods: Between February 2008 and November 2014, a total of 201 type 2 diabetic foot patients (147 males, 54 females; median age: 65.99 years; range, 50 to 92 years) who underwent amputation were retrospectively analyzed.
Objective: To evaluate the usability of the ratio of birth weight to placental weight [fetoplacental ratio (FPR)] in predicting postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission.
Study Design: Prospective observational study.
Place And Duration Of Study: Bursa Yuksek Ihtisas Training & Research Hospital, Bursa, Turkey, between July 2020 and July 2021.

Objectives: The authors aimed to evaluate the characteristics and management outcomes of patients who developed tracheal stenosis after invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) due to COVID-19.
Design, Setting, And Participants: The data of 7 patients with tracheal stenosis and 201 patients without tracheal stenosis after IMV due to COVID-19 between March 2020 and October 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.
Interventions: Flexible bronchoscopy was performed for the diagnosis of tracheal stenosis and the evaluation of the treatment's effectiveness, and rigid bronchoscopy was applied for the dilatation of tracheal stenosis.

Objectives: Hamartomas are common benign tumors of the lung. Rarely, lung cancer coincidence may occur at the time of diagnosis or in the follow-up period.
Methods: Between 2016 and 2019, 38 patients who underwent a surgical procedure and diagnosed with lung hamartoma were retrospectively evaluated regarding clinicopathological features.
Associations between inherited Killer Immunoglobulin-like Receptor (KIR) genotypes and the severity of multiple RNA virus infections have been reported. This prospective study was initiated to investigate if such an association exists for COVID-19. In this cohort study performed at Ankara University, 132 COVID-19 patients (56 asymptomatic, 51 mild-intermediate, and 25 patients with severe disease) were genotyped for KIR and ligands.

Methods: A total of 202 patients (179 males and 23 females; mean age, 59.66 ± 9.
Objectives: This study aims to compare the outcomes of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) lobectomy with open thoracotomy lobectomy in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: There were 269 cases with NSCLC who underwent lobectomy between 2017-2019; these cases were retrospectively studied. VATS lobectomy (VATS Group) and open thoracotomy lobectomy (Thoracotomy Group) patients' results were compared according to the length of hospitalizations, early postoperative complications and tumor size and stages.

Objectives: Cervical mediastinoscopy may become essential in patients with pathological lymph nodes at mediastinum after laryngectomy. However, having had a previous tracheostomy has been reported to be a contraindication for cervical mediastinoscopy.
Methods: Between January 2010 and December 2017, cervical mediastinoscopy was performed for lung cancer staging in 1985 patients at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Yedikule Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Education and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey.
Objectives: Turkey remains among the countries where hydatid disease is endemic. In this study, it was aimed to determine the number of operations performed for the treatment of pulmonary hydatid disease in Turkey during 2014 and to present the distribution of these operations according to the different regions of the country.
Materials And Methods: The Turkish Thoracic Society Thoracic Surgery Study Group connected with the thoracic surgeons in each city through telephone.
Purpose: Lung cancer is one of the major sources of mortality in the elderly. This study was undertaken to assess the early and long-term results of surgical resection in patients older than 70 years of age by comparing the results of patients aged 70-79 years (group 1) with patients older than 80 years of age (group 2).
Methods: Data on patient age, gender, spirometry values, side, size, histology and stage of the tumor, surgical procedures, postoperative complications, Charlson comorbidity scores (CCS), and survival were collected.

Objectives: The right sleeve lower lobectomy is the least used of the bronchial sleeve operations. There are only case-based studies in the literature. In this study, we compared this technique to those used in patients who underwent a right lower bilobectomy.

Concerns about lesser pain and better cosmesis led to the evolution of uniportal access. This study prospectively compared the results of the uniportal, two-port, and three-port thoracoscopic surgery.

Castleman's disease (CD) is a rare disease with unknown aetiology. It is characterised by benign lymph node hyperplasia that may involve all lymph nodes. The most common locations are the mediastinum and abdomen.

Objective: Positron emission tomography (PET) is used increasingly in staging of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) as a non-invasive tool. The role of the PET in mediastinal lymphatic staging of NSCLC is not clear. We aimed to demonstrate the efficacy of PET in determining mediastinal lymphatic metastasis by comparing the results of PET with mediastinoscopy.

Objective: Mediastinoscopy is gold standard in the staging patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Yet, its necessity in every patient is being questioned as new data is being collected. In the present study, we compared pathology reports of the cases with T1 NSCLC both after mediastinoscopy and thoracotomy, and discussed about the necessity of mediastinoscopy.

Lobar torsion is a rare complication after pulmonary resection. We report a case of right middle lobe torsion following a right upper lobectomy, and left lower lobe torsion following a left upper lobectomy. Careful postoperative clinical observation, chest radiography, fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB), and computed tomography (CT) are crucial for precise diagnosis of lobar torsion following pulmonary resection.
